Aaah, the joys of working retail management. Glad I left that many years ago!
I am also tired of hearing about that woman and her 14 kids. Those poor babies, can you imagine the chaos in that house? If someone wants to have a large family and can support and care for them without expecting the taxpayers to step in, then that's nobody's business but theirs. This woman, however, needs mental help. The biggest "shame on you" should go to the doctor who performed the procedure.
No doubt! I thought 5 was a handful! When we lived in Des MOines, we would hear a story or two about a mom that had seven, but their church helped around the clock. They also had one older daughter. Very cute family. We love to watch Jon and Kate on TLC. SO can relate when the four were all under the age of six! I've heard they are lookingin to legistation to prevent this from happening again.
My hubby is in retail and this is the time of year they do inventory as well as surprise audits. He manages Merchandising the store as well as trained to sell firearms. Right now it's about a two hour wait for background check- and if you are an eight hour shift and four guys buy A gun, guess what your day is like. Did I mention he is on hold for most of this. Yes, all done over the phone for this store. Otherwise that week he worked 4 overnight shifts to get caught up with invertory as he didn't get anything done during the day. Poor guy. Loves his job otherwise!
I'm with you CC--she's wacko--and social services needs to keep a close eye on her but get off the public scrutiny already. At least she's somewhat articulate (if not delusional). I'm terribly saddened by the situation of the children...heard someone say yesterday she's facing 64 feedings a day with those babies and that's not the other children. It's somewhat like watching a train wreck but I can only hope something happens that will ligthen her load. Not that I don't think she's an idiot...

Shorty used to run through his day like reading back minutes from a meeting. Now it goes like this:
Mom: How was your day?
Shorty: Fine
Mom: Did you do anything fun?
Shorty: Uh, it was school, so.... no
Mom: Anything interesting happen?
Shorty: {heavy sigh, sideways glare from below the long hair, silence...}
Mom: Well, excuse me Mr. Grouchy Pants.
Shorty: {slight shake of head, acknowledging confirmation that Mom is an idiot}
So, new subject - I wish the media would leave that poor mother of the octuplets alone. Sure she's news worthy, maybe criminal, probably suffering from a disorder or two... But calling her "Octomom" like she's some eight-legged circus sideshow freak does nothing to get her or those poor babies the help they need. I'm sad for her and the children.

Oh I know--the first 2 minutes they get off the bus is like a machine gun rattling. Sometimes I just look at them and make my eyes go round in circles. They start laughing and now we have a new game--overwhelm mommy and make her eyes go round....
Feeding them at their usual time comes somewhat from necessity. They both eat lunch early at school and the qty of food is nowhere enough for my son, so by the time they get home they are starving. I don't want them spending the late afternoon snacking, and if I make them wait too long for dinner I'm afraid my son might chew my arm off!
While I'd love to have hubby home earlier, it does provide the opportunity for the kids to tell me about their day and then for hubby to tell me about his. Otherwise I sometimes feel overwhelmed with information during dinner.
