Okay, just finished the book The Soloist. I picked it up after seeing a piece about the author and his "subject" on 60 Minutes mostly because of the music background(daughter plays in an orchestra). The saying "music hath power to soothe the savage breast"(I'm sure that's not the exact saying) so applies here, and I found beautiful lessons on friendship, forgiveness, not judging someone by their circumstances, and finding joy in the smallest accomplishments. Although some of the language is harsh, I'm going to recommend it to both of my teenagers.

I'm glad the snow didn't come to our town like had been originally predicted. Right now we're just too darn cold and the wind is just crazy. I don't know why I even do my hair in the morning-I could use that extra sleep!

You all got the storm that snubbed us. We were told of 10-16 inches of snow for Saturday. Prom was postponed, other school events canceled, and we saw not even an inch. Lots of wind- no way Dad would let oldest drive- but very fustrating. Meeting this morning to figure out if we still have the hotel etc.

Feel bad for the kids. I told my oldest if anything your "circle" can come to our house and I'll cook for them and we'll rent a few movies. She actually smiled!

AAHHH no cell phones. Killer budget cut but right now, peice ofmind back for a bit!

Thinking about it, the last time it snowed like that so late was the year we moved to Denver! Des Moines got a foot or two and it was still melting when we moved April 17th. Denver had the same snow but it was gone in a couple days. As a matter of fact I remember making my 2 wear jackets and they were so hot when we landed and got to Dad.

As much as I hate it, I do miss seeing snow for more than a few hours after it falls.

It's late for us to have a storm like that, but not unheard of. I've had tulips covered with snow several times. The problems arose because it shifted north and hit an area that I don't think was prepared for it, so the snowplows were running behind. I kept hinting that maybe we should just stop somewhere, but hubby was determined to get home that night. It's amazing how you go a few weeks without snow and people forget how to drive in it. There were dozens of cars in ditches.

Desperate situations sometimes call for desperate actions, CC! Good for you for taking control. I wouldn't begrudge you that last bit of peanut butter though! I'm eating peanuts right now to keep me away from the chocolate chip cookies. Of course, I need to watch those too! I think it will be a salad for lunch-weight loss will help my poor arthritic knee and the blood sugars.

Our trip back home this weekend was quite an adventure. Interstate 80 during a snowstorm is NOT the place to be! There are some crazy truckers out there!
