Pour me some Christmas spirits please. Been a rough day. I think everybody knows that I work in an afterschool program. Well, after a hard day of working as a sub--I'm informed that the district coordinater resigned, the site coordinater resigned, the fitness coordinater resigned, one teacher is quitting, the activity leader is leaving because of schedule conflicts, and one teacher is talking about quitting, the other activity leader is gone wacko and trying to be on a power trip. What a day!!!!!! I'm ready to scream and then to top off everything, I get this comment`~~~~ I was upset because I found out that both teachers were not going to be there and when the person asked what was wrong I said"I don't know what I'm gonna do with 30 something children afterschool by myself..." I was so ticked when she replied,"Just let them play, that's all they do in afterschool anyway!!" I could have spit nails!!!!! Gee, and here I thought we were helping with homework, teaching them to eat right, giving them exercise, talking to them about their problems, playing educational games, and getting the accelerated reader points that are required as a test grade. If we do nothing how come I'm so tired and the students grades have come up at least a letter grade?
Thank you, I feel much better to have vented to people who won't be sticking a knife in my back later for things I say.
I'm looking up athe family calendar and notice my 13 year old has a countdown...for her birthday! CRIPS! Did you know I now only have 15 days till Christams but 44-45 days to shop for her!
and she grew another inch making her taller than me by 1/2 inch but she is taller....
were are those darn ruby slipper so I can get the heck outta here!!!
I would love some of that chocolate luv! Yes, I don't think our kids are all that different really. They have their moments and sometimes, I know that these are the moments I am going to remember. My son also used to have night terrors but he has grown out of them (just like his doctor has said he would but his dad didn't believe her..) but he still talks in his sleep. Last night he was telling someone about a talking lunchbox... There is a lot of imagination running around in our children and I don't think they get the opportunities to use them as much as we did. And with recesses cut down and the issues of safety, they don't play as often. I don't think they have the outlets to release their energy that we did and that results in their being labeled.
just my opinion anyway!
By the way, this was in a response from Tim in the PTA forum "(nor do i think that -- if it was a PTA issue -- that MichelleB would have the market cornered on answering, but that's a different story)."
Does this or does this not, sound like a slight insult or am I over reacting???

Mykidsmom: Be sure to check out Kids Go Shopping. I think they are really outstanding, plus they are community minded and don't mind donating extra stuff. They also have a great Staff Goes Shopping deal...
