Hubby and I attended a Christmas party last night that was just for the ladies that are on the yearbook committee and their husbands. No kids allowed. I can't begin to tell you how much fun we had. That was the first time in over a year that the two of us went out without the kids! There as 11 people there and all are involved in our PTO so it was nice to get to know each other outside of the school. The other nice thing about it is that we found out that we all live in the same subdivision with the exception of one couple. We found that we have so much in common and not just the school. We really didn't talk about school/PTO that much, and the things that were said were all positive.
mykidsmom, yes it does get that cold in parts of Florida. I live 45 due west of Daytona and where I'm at last week we had a low of 24. Tonight it supposed to go down to 28 and a high of 50 for Monday. It doesn't happen often, but it can go down in the teens during the night. I'm a native Floridian and I've see it snow, not just melt when it hits the ground, but stays on the ground until 9 or 10 a.m., about 2 times. It has also snowed to where it melted when it hit the ground about 4 times. Like I said it is rare, but it does happen. Those temps also don't include any wind chill.
Where tiner68 is going it's considered a cold pocket in the county and can get about 5 degrees colder that where I'm at.
It's a nice change around the holidays, but it can also be a pain since most people don't have the clothing to handle those cold temps. I have one heavy, heavy long jacket that I've had for almost 15 yrs. since I only wear it 2 to 3 times a year.
Okay, we didn't have tool sets! It was a white elephant so it was a gift that you received that you didn't want or a gag gift. Plus once the gift had been stolen twice, it was out of the running. I ended up with a heart-shaped cookie platter.
We can put the peanut butter cookies on it!!!
Glad to know I'm not the only one perusing this sight all hours of the early morning.
We had a gift exchange like that at our church's adult Christmas party. Guess who the first one was to "appropriate" a gift...the Pastor. He was pretty vicious too. We had a 44-pc tool set that must have moved to a new owner at least 100 times. What a hoot! Can't wait til next year.
Okay, I heard peanut butter cookies and hot chocolate!!
I just did our council meeting (had to have it in December because we had to vote to spend some money - time sensitive and all) but I made it into a White Elephant gift exchange. Those girls (and one guy, my treasurer) are just way too nice. They were all willing not to "steal" a gift but I changed that! I felt so greedy but eventually every gift (except one) had been stolen twice! (and not just by me
 Oohhh, I love peanut butter cookies. Tiner68, you'd better pack some warm clothes for when you visit Salt Springs. We had a low of 26 yesterday, and still another freeze warning for tonight. Plus the area that you're going to has a tendency to be colder. I'll take a cup of that hot chocolate.
My coffee pot broke yesterday, and its been really missed.
