I remember for our first Boo-Hoo Breakfast I made signs that said something along the lines that "some of us will be crying tears of joy". My kids didn't get that! Some friends and I did a little song and dance when school started last year. We didn't let the kids see that though!
I had to laugh when I read backhoed's quote back at the beginning of this tread..
que the Staples commercial..."it's the most wonderful time of year" [Big Grin]
In my "previous life .. before kids" I worked as a Paralegal for Staples. Staples wasn't a big company at the time so I was also "customer service" with 2 other people.
Anyway, when that commercial first appeared, we rec'd many complaints from teachers (and others) telling us that Staples was giving teachers a bad name and kids would start the school year with a bad attitude etc. I had one woman that was treatening to sue the company if the commercial was pulled off the air immediately!
I was so hard to keep from laughing. I still laugh about it now and that commercial first aired over 10 years ago!!
I believe it was one of the most creative and fun advertising campaigns.
Thanks for making me laugh today. My kids are on vacation this week and they keep telling me that they are BORED!!! Can't wait for Monday!!
Now if this was Trading Spaces, the designer would probably take those Campbell labels and wallpaper your kitchen with them. Use your imagination girl!!! I have some antique Campbell's soup mugs I could donate to the theme!
WooHoo!!!! I just looked at the calendar and realized the kids have no school Monday. I've put in my request for a day off work. My mental health day is coming!!!!! Pray for nice weather!
I'm gonna garden and clean and cook and play with my kids and be totally happy when my husband gets home from work that day!!!!!
I'm here. I've taken a "mental health day" from work. From the way things have been going I need to take at least a week, but that's not going to happen any time soon.
School will be out next month, Brownies will be taking a summer break, what oh what will I do with the extra time on my hands? Oh, wait I'll catch up on all the things that I've let slide during the last few months and try to get a head start on the up-coming school year.
Pour me a couple of strong ones, I can feel that I'm going to need it!
Oh backhoed, I know what you mean. I've seen so many people who forget why our children go to school-for an education. That's got to be our number one priority. It's nice to have a good looking building, but if your test scores stink and your teachers lack the supplies and tools they need to teach, what good is it? Unfortunately, I've witnessed people who think that because their kids are doing fine and have all they need that's all that matters and to heck with everyone else.
Okay, give me a shot and let's change the subject, I'm getting riled up!!
I'm seriously ready for school to be out. I know, I sound insane-kids home all day, but there is just too much going on right now and I need a break.
Oh yeah, I'm hating work too. Maybe it's spring fever. All I want to do is work in my yard and clean my house. Then spend the evening on the patio with a glass of iced tea(or a big margarita)and watch the sunset.
