Scottmom, sending you a big hug and a Happy Birthday! Let us know how everything goes so we can give you our electronic support.
I need a big piece of that cake and something alcoholic to wash it down. Last meeting of the year tonight and stupid(?) me I've put my name in to be co-prez next year. I haven't heard of anyone else wanting the job so looks like my friend and I have a busy year ahead. Going to try to make our school a more family fun place to be.
I wish all of you luck with your planting. I seem to kill everything-maybe because it doesn't say, "Mom, I'm hungry." We are finishing up a round of strep throat at my house and a few others in my family. Makes me a little peeved at my sister in law for having everyone over when only one of her kids had gotten it. She's a nurse, she knew they would probably all get it-and they did and so did all the other small children in the family, then their parents, and siblings. Today is my birthday, tomorrow I'm having surgery, and my grandpa is in the hospital trying to decide whether or not to have bypass surgery. Needless to say, most of my birthdays have been depressing and this might even be considered a good one to when my uncle told me they found a blur on his chest xray(and died 8 months later). Of course, getting older makes lots of people negative so just ignore my complaining. I brought birthday cake. I made it because I'm stressed and not only baked this but food for the staff's first day without kids yesterday. Anyway, enjoy the vanilla cake and homemade buttercream icing and pray that my mother doesn't call me all day telling me what she was doing this day ?# of years ago!
The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris

In the words of my Napolean Dynamite, "luckeee!!". We keep an eye on Peavine Mountain. That's how the locals know when to plant. It's been beautiful for the last week but we dipped into the 40's the week before. I remember it even snowing in June a few times!! Anyhow, the mountain is almost clear and I'm all over the greenhouses around here. I have a huge unlandscaped backyard to work on.
Stomach flu went over pretty quickly and thankfully didn't make the rounds to the rest of the house but I also banished everyone from my bedroom until I was well.
We've been BBQing on the warm days. However, I wouldn't mind a bit more rain. The ground is already getting really dry... Shawn you got any more rain for us!!!???
We're tired of the hot-cold stuff too. I have never had to worry about my flowers freezing in mid-May before. Looks like we've finally got a stretch of nice normal spring weather for the next week or so. The cold certainly hasn't stopped the weeds from growing profusely in my flower beds so I'm hoping to get out this week and clean them up. Have baseball tonight, but then three nights free--YAY! I'm dying for a big juicy steak on the grill!
