Ohhhhh...the thought of painted floors makes me cringe.
I have always been a hard wood floor with area rug nut, so I can't even begin to imagine painting my floors. Then again...what works for one doesn't always work for another. LOL! But, before you paint, do make sure that you don't have nice (and expensive) hard wood that you may one day regret painting over.
Yeah, I think carpeting is the theme this week. I'm really thinking about just pulling up the carpet and PAINTING  the floor and put down an area rug. Long story short, eldery dogs, kids, and just wanting a change.
Has anyone done this, or have any info on doing this, i.e., suggestions, downfalls? Any info is much appreciated!
cw, thanks for the kind comment, I really need support right now.
Watch out for those tack strips too--Ouch! Carpet removal must be a theme here, we need to do it in the next couple of weeks(as soon as the contractor calls and says it's here). Then my summer of household remodeling is nearly complete. My husband has developed some new skills-laying hardwood, so I guess if he ever loses his job he's got something he can fall back on! Perish the thought!
Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat.

Cut the carpet into managable (sp?) strips, then roll them up jelly roll-style. Tie up with string, and the bundles are easy to haul out to the curb.
I just took out the carpet in my daughter's (upstairs) room last week and thought it wouldn't be too bad because it wasn't that big of a piece. I wish I had done the cut and roll.
