Hey I thought the same thing last night when I was checking the boards.
I guess it's just that everyone is busy with vacations, kids being home, etc. Good luck on your project, I hope it goes well.
I had the first big meeting with the new board and the principal yesterday. Everything went very well. We sent dates for our activities, had some questions answered about how our PTO works, etc. Found out that we are not a 501 (c) (3), but we do make our major purchases through the school with their discounts. I'm going to have to tread slowly here, but I want to find out why. Since this is my first year being involved in our school, and my appearent "knowledge" (thanks to you guys), I don't want to make too many waves.
We have another board meeting scheduled the week before school starts, so we'll see what happens.
Okay I know it's summer vacation, but come on folks no ones been here for two weeks!! I found some stale brownies in the kitchen can I use them to pelt the robin who sits on my house every morning at 4:00 am and sings?!
Actually I stopped by to make myself a big drink, kick back and relax, and prepare myself for our summer meeting this week. I've been making notes and we have so much to go over and some topics I know are going to ruffle feathers because they always do. Why must some people be so testy and suspicious? I'm also nervous because I have developed what I think(and those I've shown it to think) a wonderful reading incentive program. I want to put it forth as our "Project for the Year" instead of just raising and spending money. I'll be disappointed if it gets shot down because I really think we need to head our group in a different direction this year. WISH ME LUCK!
The water is finally clear in the pool so other than softball practice on Saturday I think we plan on lazing around the pool all weekend. I can't wait!!
Pour me a margarita and hand me the sunscreen, it's absolutely gorgeous here today and here I am at work! I have a huge window in my office that overlooks a wooded area and it's making it very hard to focus. We ate outside at lunch and I'm thinking supper may be outside too. We have a week and half off from baseball and I've rediscovered my flower gardens and what it's like to cook real meals for my family! Tomorrow I'm skipping housework and taking the kids to the annual Kid's Day our community puts on and then I'm thinking pool time. It may be pool time all weekend! Anybody else got leisurely plans made for the weekend?
closetwriter, I have two words for your BBQ, YUM, YUM! I made it yesterday, put it in the crockpot before I left for work, came home at lunch to add the other ingredients(which I mixed up the night before), and by the time I came home it was ready. Made some rolls and veggies and had a wonderful dinner with plenty of leftovers for tonight.
Thanks for sharing. I'm going to try the brownies this weekend.
Shawn, you'll do great. In my many years of setting up programs, classes, etc. for the public, one thing I've learned is that no one will no if something goes wrong other than those directly involved.
If something doesn't go right, which it won't because you're a great planner, just keep going and try not to sweat the small stuff.
