Good for you Luv and Godspeed and safety as you go. If there are things that you might consider worthwhile for folks in VA to contribute let me know. I'm always up to rallying for a good cause.
Also didn't mean to make "The Red Tent: sound like a biblical work...it isn't (not that that's bad or anything)--it is a story telling book so if religion isn't your thing that is NOT the focus. Just the setting for this particular work.
That sounds like an interesting book, d. I'll have to check my library for it. Doing lots of reading now that summer is here. Nothing like finding a cool spot to kick back with a good book and a glass of iced tea on a hot day.
Took photos of the flood last night. It's a record breaker. Levee broke across the river from us in Illinois. There is a whole town that is now covered along with 5000 acres of farmland. From a high point in our city you can see across the river and it's just water everywhere. I've lived in this area my whole life and have seen lots of floods, but it's different when you're a kid and when you're an adult. As a kid you're in awe, as an adult you just feel sort of sick, and so sad for all of the people who literally have nothing left but the clothes on their backs. Going to take a page from the "book of d" and rally my kids to think of ways to help people in the area get back on their feet.
Have read and am reading 2 great books and wanted to share. The thirteenth tale is a really sort of gothic novel written in the same genre as the old literary works but it was really engaging and now I'm reading "The Red Tent" which is a narration by Dinah from the bible (daughter of Jacob) and it is a woman's tale of the birth of all his sons. Really, really interesting. The Red Tent is where the women were sent during the periods and giving birth. Really just an interesting insight into the first ladies of the bible (and also thought provoking on the importance of poligamy back then--not that they play up that side of things but really has me thinking).
'Cause online I'm out in Hollywood
I'm 6 foot 5 and I look damn good
I drive a Maserati
I'm a (green)-belt in karate
And I love a good glass of wine
It turns boys on that I’m mysterious
I tell them I don't want nothing serious
'Cause even on a slow day
I could have a three way
Chat with two men at one time
I’m so much cooler online
So much cooler online
Yep, that's me.... cooler online.
Hey Menlo! I know what you mean. It's been pretty quiet around here so I think other's feel the same as you. d's right though. Just think of page 2 as hanging around the local pool over summer break.
LUV, speaking of water, I bet you've seen more of it then you ever cared to! I hope things are warm, safe and dry in your neck of the woods.
Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for awhile and leave footprints on our hearts. And we are never, ever the same."
"The ultimate aim of karate lies not in victory or defeat but in the true perfection of one's character."
Menlo--we miss you. You can still think about the good parts of school and page 2 is one of those...come back to us menlo....comeback...or you may find our newest green belt might have to open a can of whoop @##.
