Our public elem. has had a lot of complaints over the years[2 lately from families that have a parent that is a teacher]taken up the chain of command,to the school board ,falling on deaf ears. A person in charge of elem. curriculum has told me to my face the school is a"runaway train". People move out because they are disgusted.The music teacher had been telling stories that may have been obscene and the science specials teacher tell parents out loud she is too tired to do science fair;she did that a long time ago! What do we parents do next if the school board is sweeping us under the rug???
I am planning on seeing the music teacher's personnel files, as well as the pricipal's.Are they not fearful because they have tenure/union?
What rights do parents have?I have pulled my son from the music class due to the stories, and this teacher has not been out one day to be investigated. The school board is making me leave the school grounds for the hour I have my student.Is this legal? Do I have to leave the grounds of the school or are they trying to scare me? We live in Michigan, if I am allowed to say. Are there educational advocacy groups that speak for parents to get to the bottom of this?The best the state has to offer is to start recalling the school board.
