d, so sorry to hear that you've been sick. There are some pretty nasty viruses going around. Isn't Nyquil the best?!?!?! I have to, literally, be in bed when I take it because it knocks me right out. I hope you'll be feeling better soon.
The Reading Around the Campfire sounds fun! Can't wait to hear about it.
d, you'll be an awesome teacher. You have so many interesting experiences and a unique perspective that will serve you and your students well. What grades will you be working with?

All kind of sick here--didn't get to page 2 for a while. I put our cards on the fridge (and take the old ones off) and then I cut the others up for scrapbooking pages...for Christmas photos.
I'm going to be doing some teaching too CC...I'm kind of nervous about the whole thing but it should be fun. We have a school event tonight...literacy night -- they're doing reading around the campfire (not sure what that is all about) but the two little guys wanted to go.
I had my decorations down on the 1st--thank goodness. Not sure why--just wanted it packed away quickly this year. Glad I did--otherwise it would have still been looming. Okay--I can't take Nyquil till I get home...and I'm ready to go to bed now...
I like to keep my cards and pictures out too. When I took Shorty's girlfriend home yesterday I noticed that, while their tree is down, the rest of the house is still decked out with Christmas stuff! So, it isn't just us!!

CrewChief - Congrats on clearing out the holiday decorations. We usually get ours put away right after New Year's. However, I have an small eccentricity in that I really like to leave my Christmas cards out. I have one of those wall things that looks sort of like an oval table runner and the cards stick into it by their corners and fan out a bit like a deck of cards. Anyway I LIKE my Christmas cards. Many are photo cards and it makes me smile to see them. So I often leave those up for weeks, months, sometimes all year.
My kids think it's crazy. But it does't take too much space. - about 12 inches wide and 2-1/2 feet long, flat against the wall. We'll see how long I go this year. Maybe February...
It's like a ghost town in here. Or, more like that eerie quiet after a blizzard when everything is covered in snow and nothing is moving....
I'm about to cross over into unknown school territory - teaching! Actually, I'm only taking a baby step through my class, "Field Experience in Education". It's a 50 hour internship this semester. I've been student, parent, volunteer, parent group leader... but now I'm stepping behind the desk. I'm a little scared. I meet with the advisor today and then I'll have one week to find a teacher willing to take on a "non-traditional" intern. I wonder if it would be weird to go to Shorty's grade school and work with teachers I know or if I should go to a school where nobody knows me. Any suggestions?

It's so cold outside that it hurts to breath the air in. I can't remember ever being this cold. School has been canceled for the last three days because of wind chill. Of course Monday is a holiday so that's six days off in a row. Shorty is in Heaven!
I achieved a personal record yesterday... All of the Christmas decorations are boxed up! I know, you may be wondering if that's a record for the earliest day ever or the latest. Well, coming from someone who usually still has stuff lying around at Valentine's Day (and, once or twice, Easter.... :o), it's a huge accomplishment. Why does it always seem like there's twice as much to put away as ever came out of those boxes to begin with?
