Boy wait till I speck with my sister again! She had 450 guests at her wedding and we sent 500 thank yous! I DID THE ADDRESSING! UGH! Later she put everyone a data base for Christmas (she sent out a wedding picture to everyone!) cards and printed lables! I know just as cheesy but my hand may have been better for wear!
My husband and I renewed our vows last year in a ceremony so I just brushed up on this topic. Almost every advise person with a good name to stand on said this was just lazy. If someone goes to the trouble to to give you something, let alone attend your event, you should be able to take the time to properly address said time and gift with a personally handwritten card and envelope. One lady said if you were that lazy or just know that many people giving you gifts, get some of your wedding party to help you address them, but never ask the guest to do it. Now this is ok for a baby shower as it is thought that the mother doesn't have time for anything once her child comes.
The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris
Yeah, we had that option, but didn't set it up because who knew they would give him one day notice to travel! The kids and I were lifting the furniture this morning. With them on one end and me on the other we can at least get the sofa and love seat back in so we have a place to sit and if my husband puts the entertainment center in the breakfast area I think I can push it back in(it has some wheels). The rest can wait, and if I can't get the TV back in there then we'll just go to the pool or a movie if it's too hot to play outside! Or I can whip out the math books and torture my children with that!! A very evil HAHAHA!!!
I just figured she needed something to whine about, because if she had taken the time to read the information at the table about the programs we sponsor and our plans for this year she would have kept her mouth shut, paid for the t-shirt and been happy! We're probably going to see a lot of that kind of attitude this year because there were some major changes to the attendance center boundaries and there are lots of hard feelings about having to move kids to different schools. Such is PTO life!
On a lighter? note: my husband has half the carpet pulled up and almost all the furniture is out of the living room(except what we really need), the carpet comes Wednesday and now he calls and tells me he may have to travel to the corporate office at the end of the week. That would leave me with the carpet installed but no way to move the furniture back! Sometimes you just gotta laugh at the chaos in your life!
Another vote for the kids going back to school!!! My son has gone into lazy bum mode and when I make him do something he stomps around and mumbles under his breath-oh the privileges he has lost. My daughter is just plain driving me crazy. At 7:15 this morning she wanted a manicure. It didn't matter that I was up to my elbows in sudsy dish water and the kitchen floor looked like people had eaten directly on it.
We're going to work on math tonight and I'm going to play the mean substitute teacher!
Then just when we thought all was going well at registration with our bargain price t-shirts, a mom who is new to the school says "Such and Such(her former school)PTO is giving t-shirts out for free." Well, la-dee-dah good for them! We'll spend our hard earned money on educational programs thank you very much. Can you ever just have a moment where everyone is happy with you?
Shawn, really like the sites you sent. Really, really, like the 2nd one. Don't think they're within my budget, but received some great ideas! Thanks so much.
