Ohhhh, Baileys and Girl Scout Thin Mints. Now thats food for thought and might be just what the Dr. ordered. Not Dr. Phil, though, I don't think he'd go for that.
Since Tim won't go for Mediation Services, We'll just have to visit here and vent.
Looking forward to a great weekend. I'm leaving the kids with the ex and heading down to Veince, FL to visit with my sisters. Should be a lot of fun.
Take care, Spring is almost here and then Summer. Oh, what fun we'll have!
There's a new area for PTOtoday to venture into-Mediation Services! They could offer conference calls or visits from a mediator to help work through these issues. How about it, Tim?
Renee, you must be my doppleganger! Had the same issues with my principal. I probably did the wrong thing, but I called her superior and asked if all principals in the district were allowed to treat the PTO account as their own. She said something to our principal about making sure she actively participated not tired to run our group. Needless to say, this type of behavior had been happening for years between the principal and school secretary running the PTO money and it was frustrating, as well as chasing away, any parents that wanted to get involved. Needless to say, I put on some weight from the chocolate I needed to keep my spirits up! Eventually it all works out. For us, it took only having parents with control of our account and that's the way our district prefers it.
The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris
I've got big bowls of chocolate mousse with fresh whipped cream. Eat it real slow and concentrate on how smooth it is and the rich chocolate flavor and all your cares will just melt away.
I don't know what it is with all the chaos that seems to hit parent groups at this time of year. Must be burnout from everything we tried to accomplish in the fall, then we have the holiday rush...add in cabin fever and the lurking thoughts of who will (please I'm begging you) take over your position next year.
We've accomplished so many wonderful, positive things this year, but we've had one problem area that we just can't seem to get control of and it has just been overshadowing all the good things.
Thank goodness I have a new project to take me away from a lot of this PTO chaos next school year.
Until then, I'll be eating a lot of chocolate mousse!
OMG!!! I keep thinking 'do I want to keep doing this' My principal is making me need a dose of Dr. Phil. Apparently in yrs. past she ran the group & just spent $$$. Well, I showed up & now am trying to get the group on the right track. Is the a p in pto that stands for principal? Ugh!!! My principal is clueless. She never remembers what you tell her or what she told you.I keep asking for treasurer's report & all I get is a balance. I keep saying 'we need to follow by-laws & vote.' I'll keep trying. I'm in it for the kids.
I need some chocolate & a girls night out. I'm surrounded by boys (4-14), 5 of them to be exact plus the husband & dog. Maybe a bottle of Bailey's & girl scout cookies will do the trick & a hot bath to relax.
