Yeah!!! My mother-in-law is coming for the weekend. She'll be here tomorow night. Every time she visits a calm feeling settles over me and my home. I have never, in my whole life, met another woman like her. I'm going to have to make something special for supper. Any suggestions?

d - I LOVE broccoli salad and even had the recipe a long time ago..... but I lost it. I found this on the web. No cheddar in this recipe but I think I'd add it anyway because it sounds yummy. Does this look right to you?
Broccoli Salad
INGREDIENTS:
2 heads fresh broccoli
1 red onion
1/2 pound bacon
3/4 cup raisins
3/4 cup sliced almonds
1 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup white sugar
2 tablespoons white wine vinegar
DIRECTIONS:
Place bacon in a deep skillet and cook over medium high heat until evenly brown. Cool and crumble.
Cut the broccoli into bite-size pieces and cut the onion into thin bite-size slices. Combine with the bacon, raisins, your favorite nuts and mix well.
To prepare the dressing, mix the mayonnaise, sugar and vinegar together until smooth. Stir into the salad, let chill and serve.

My favorite company recipe is Preist Chicken (so called because it's always served when a preist is over). Mix 1 softened package of cream cheese, 1 family size can of cream of chicken (or mushroom) soup, and 1 package of dry ranch dressing mix (1oz?) in a crockpot. Add up to 8 chicken breasts and cook on low for 8 hours or high for 1.5 hours and then low for 2.5 hours. Use the sauce for a gravy over rice or potatoes, some green beans and biscuits. It's very good but a little rich.

One I use for guests all the time is flank steak that I marinate for 24 hours in soy sauce, fresh garlic and ginger (to taste but water downt he soy sauce a bit. Broil or grill it for 7/8 minutes per side (for medium) and slice on a hard bias cut....You can serve with red potatoes or rice pilaf (from the box here) and brocolli salad - you've probably had the recipee for the cold salad with bacon, cheddar, red onion, may dressing....
Most is do ahead stuff and then serve...
I'm also a big soup nazi so if you need a good soup recipee let me know...

If it's as beautiful there as it is here I would suggest a lovely pork loin roast with a barbeque rub. I use McCormick's, rub it all over the roast, wrap in plastic wrap and let it marinate in fridge for several house. Then cook it on the gas grill over indirect heat. I serve it with small red potatoes that I quarter, season with Mrs. Dash table blend, toss on a couple tablespoons of butter, wrap in foil and throw on the grill(done in about 30 minutes depending on size of pieces)and green beans with bacon and onion-one bag frozen green beans, 1/2 cup water, 2 tsp. minced onion, 2tbsp real bacon pieces, 1tbsp butter. Bring to a boil then reduce heat and simmer until beans are tender. I bake up some corn muffins and we've got dinner.
The pork loin is great sliced and served on buns with some BBQ sauce too.
