I agree 100% with you Shawn.

With that kind of reception to an offer - why should they extend the offer to help or volunteer?

But she's bouncing back - really getting into her idea for the no sew blankets for the social workers to give to kids who are being removed from their homes for whatever reason. Gotta love kids - they are a constant suprise!

I'm mad for you!

That principal should know how hard it is for many children to address grown ups like that. I personally would have died first. Just a few kind words from the principal would've been so easy to do and would've made your daughter feel like all of her hard work matters.

Project Linus is a terrific organization and their website has an easy to follow pattern.

Here, you need some Chicken Casserole, Broccoli Salad and Chocolate Cake.

Ok, I'm officially pi%$*ed!

Here's my rant: my oldest wanted to do a community service projest to earn her GS Bronze award. The project - beautify the courtyard that the teachers and some students use. So she worked up a great plan and presented it to her principal. Guess what the principal told her "I'll get back to you on Monday. I need to run it by the CUSTODIAL mgr" and another teacher.
"xcuse me?

Not: great idea - I love that you want to do something nice for the school. Not even a pc: good idea - but let me make sure that no one else has plans for that area. Just a - I let you know later!!!!!!

Now I have a daughter who is really bummed (nearly in tears after working up the gumption to talk to the principal. She's shy so it was soo hard for her to do this) after that disaster of a meeting. I'm left to explain why the school is acting like they might not want her project! I'm really furious with this person and can't do a damn thing about it, except vent!

We are talking about changing the direction of the project. Maybe do no sew blankets for children being removed from domestic violence situations, or for a childrens hospital. Checking on those.

Sorry to ramble - needed to get this out of my system before seeing her at school tomorrow :( .
