When you are on the plane please keep in mind that you do not have 2 kids under 3 - aka it could be worse. For the past couple of years our family have been flying coast to coast across the US to see family - 8hr flights with time changes. The people sitting around you tend to have issues with infants who need bottles & are crying becasue they are starved & the airport areas do not have microwaves etc to heat up bottles. Yeah - that was a thrill a minute. If your kids have gone on roller coasters they should enjoy the airplane ride. Now whenever the plane hits some turbulance (my kids are older) they look around at all the tense people and loudly laugh and say "do it again - do it again!" That usually gets a few laughs.

We've flown to Disney World twice with our kids: snacks, bottles of water, games, books, etc. All kept them entertained on the flight. We told them what take off and landing would feel like and made plans about what to do if we got separated getting on or off. The only problem we had was one flight where they screwed up and had our kids separated from us. My son wasn't happy, but handled it well-his dad was right behind him and the guy sitting next to him was super nice and gave him the sports section from his paper. My daughter however was traumatized and when I asked the young lady next to me if she would consider switching seats, she told me "no" in a quite rude tone. A lady about my age was sitting next to my daughter and when she heard that girl say no, she jumped up and said, "I'll trade with you so you can sit by your daughter." She glared big time at that girl. I just prayed that someday that young woman would have children and find herself in the same situation so she'd know how it felt.

Thanks for the advice, kind words, and sympathy. I did try dryer sheets, them seem to work better in smaller more controlled areas. (By the way, I keep my favorite perfume samples-the flat magazine kind-in my favorite books.) I will try to coffee thing as soon as I get done with my errands today-I won't have any extra room in the back beforehand.
As for flying with kids-leave early, pack gum and a handheld fan. The fan will help if they are slightly clostrophobic, the gum helps with the ear popping, and the time helps because they are fresh. Other than that, my mom swears by benadryl. Good luck!

ScottMom, if it makes you feel any better at least you had time to go to the store. I have a sister-in-law that is always last minute and called literally 4 HOURS before her daughter's birthday party one year!!! Oh, sure, yeah - let's drop everything because you can't plan better! (Sorry, it gets me bent out of shape too!). The other sister-in-law pulled a real "classy" move TWICE this summer - ready?
Sister-in-law got a pool - my mother-in-law (for Memorial Day and July 4th) had already planned parties at her own house. The whole family, except said sister-in-law (her hubby and child) with pool, is at mama-in-law's house wondering where they are. She calls and says, "Well, I waited until I knew everyone would be at your house to call and tell you all that you need to come over here for the party 'cause it's nice enough to swim!" OH - that's all I can say here...OH!
Memorial Day - we humored her, went back to our houses, got suits, mama-in-law packed up food, etc. and we all went over.

NOW - July 4th she has the (bleep) to do the SAME THING. My mother-in-law essentially told her to stick it! LOL!

So - don't worry about the ramblings. Rambling is good. I guess I just did quite a bit...

On to a happier ramble - Question for anyone and everyone. Have any of you flown with your kids? We're going to Disney for the week of Halloween (YIPPEE) and they seem okay so far. We've been giving them info on how planes work, what they'll see, blah, blah. They have special tote bags with "stuff" to do. My 9 year old, she'll probably be bug-eyed and drooling on the window. It's the 6 year old I'm worried she'll have a bit of a melt down. Any other tips or ideas welcome...

ScottMom - I'll send my 13 year old your way. He could learn a few tricks from that husband of yours. Of course you're a mind-reader, know-it-all, organized control freak. You're a mom. Those are the minimum requirements. Hang in there. If it gets too hectic, pick up one of those coffee beans T mentioned and crunch on it. One bean = whole pot! (Don't ask me how I know......)

Well, I'm off to the gym so my trainer can kill me a little more. I don't have wagon bound toddlers to keep me in shape.

ScottMom - got something for you to try. Coffe beans. Put them in your car (in some sort of container - maybe a mesh bag). They not only smell great, they absorb smells (aka: pickles). My other suggestion is fabric sheets (the dryer kind). I use these for old musty books or drawers all the time. Throw a few and a viola - no more pickle smell.


Ok -paintings done, questionaire finished, homework completed. On to the paper! I think I'm going to need some extra caffine this morning! I hear Starbucks calling me........ [img]smile.gif[/img]
