Cool Hugs all around - IF she's cute even better (if Male thats OK too- I'm OK with my masculinity)
Sounds like a decent fiction book (and is it really Pro gay since the 'male' penguins actually keep the eggs and raise the babies while mom does that ridiculously long march for food)- I have no problem with the lifestyle just the 'marriage' part and the fact SF seems to do wahtever they want US and state laws be damned- (Its that Pelosi again!!! ) It might be a little young - Havta check it out
McCain should run as the Manchurian Candidate- at least people can watch one of the 2 movies and know what could possibly happen --- Guilliani would be VERY interesting and I'd probably vote for him in a heartbeat-- We'll see- at least its looking like we'll have some kind of choice other than the 'Lesser of 2 Evils' like some political races

D- my kids and I can't wait to start on our pkgs to send over. Just a couple of questions.
1. I have access to a whole lot of kids ( my school of course) and was wondering about getting a letter writing campaign going to send over. Would that be ok?
2. Can we send baked goods or is that a no no right now (I know it was for a while)?

beignets - nice to see you! My son LOVED Mr. Popper's Penguins. I spent hours explaining why we couldn't have penguins in our house too.
Silver - you're cracking me up lately. No apologies necessary. You fit right in! It's not easy to always be the designated driver but they're lucky to have you! Keep doing what you're doing and maybe some of it will rub off.

Sounds like quite a few of us need to buy everyone we know the book to push it to the top of the charts as a "So There!" measure. Think we can get Oprah on board?!
I have to appologize to members ... I am in a pissy mood lately and it's becasue I can't get past something. It's always the same issue for me: common sense ethics and morality of volunteering. I swear the people around me are ME ME ME people - they can't see the real point to being a PTO volunteer is not about 'YOU' it's about working as a group for the KIDS benefit & gain! Why is it I am the one that has to knock people up side the head with the truth - can't someone else for once take a stand ... chickens.

You really are Susan Sarandon! Lucky you. Tim Robbins is oh so yummy.
I hadn't even heard of this book because my son is 13 - well outside this reading range - but I thought the debates surrounding it were interesting. It's not like it was a fictional story written to promote gay marriage. It's merely a non-fiction book based on these two penguin dads. Part of the controversy is that it's been shelved as a fiction book. Most libraries are continuing to carry it but have relocated it to the non-fiction section. That's where it should be. It's a non-fiction story. I think nature vs nuture folks are just worried that this proof of homosexuality in nature will negate their argument that gay is a choice.
