Oh Scott and Shawn - I feel and understand your pain! I just got the ok to send my oldest back to school tomorrow (first time in in a WEEK!). Wooooohooooo! :D No, really.... I hope your kids get better soon. We hit on the best "feel good remedy". Out of sheer desperation (oldest was miserable and achy and cranky. Needed SOMETHING) I heated up some apple juice and added a mulling spice teabag. It was a hit! We've gone thru about a gallon of apple and 1/2 gallon of cranberry juice in the last 5 days. ;)

I agree with Scott's mom on the whole gift giving scene. I just talked with all my girlfriends and we decided not to do the "gift' thing. I'm not made of money and don't really want to spend what little I've put aside on others. I want it for my girls and my mom! Suprisingly = everyone understood. It was quite a load off my mind too (I love to give gifts, but when I get them and cant give.....it tends to ruin the whole experience for me :( ).

Golly Scott - you win the prize for most miserable week! The prize? A gift card to Bath & Body Works to buy lovely, scented, non antibacterial soaps and lotions. Enjoy!

Shawn - sorry to hear your little ones have been sick too. 'Tis the season....

Silver - After watching Rene Russo in a movie last night I've adjusted my virtual image of you. I hope you like her. I think she's fantastic - beautiful, elegant, smart but still fun!

In my family, BD gifts stop at 18 - or for anyone clueless enough to not send a thank you card. In hubby's family, gifts for everyone! But we all know and love each other so the gift selection process is fun and easy. For Christmas, it's the same thing for hubby's family - gifts all around. We all have different budgets but there's nobody keeping score. It's just about choosing a special item for someone. In my family my sister's started a gift exchange plan for the adults. Each male brings a gift for any other male. Each female for other females. Each gift is assigned a number and each participant draws a number from a hat and receives the corresponding gift. Anyone who chooses not to participate just doesn't bring a gift. It seems to work for them. I wouldn't really know since I stopped going to Crazy Family Christmas four years ago.... That works out great for me and mine!

Scotts you must have been in our house when my hubby and I were discussing gifts. My husband is absolutely against giving adults gifts. He told me if it wasn't for me no one would get a cent worth of anything. I had to laugh when you mentioned gift cards. The mojority of the wish lists I received this year requested gift cards from the very same places we would like gift cards from. Honestly, can't we all call a truce and just spend money on ourselves ie skiping the whole gifting hastle & stress.
