Recently I've discussed politics with people that have never talked about such things before. Several of my friends whom have never even registered to vote have registered and plan to vote. Everyone is definitely talking.
I'm surprised there isn't more here on the message boards about the economy and it's impact on parent groups. Surely fundraising efforts across the board are down as well as the amount of things groups can do with the money they are able to raise. It seems that every segment of the community is being affected.

Speaking of politics, I just had an extended conversation with the phone repair guy about the upcoming elections---too weird, huh?! Then there is my extreme practice of diplomacy-my mom HATES Sarah Palin and my mother-in-law wouldn't vote for a Democrat if her life depended on it. I've done a lot of polite nodding.

OK friends, I'm pretty sure you're all registered to vote, being the civic minded people you are. But still, check out this video and maybe forward it to people you know who aren't registered.
I think the candidates should be hooked up to lie detectors and then asked about their plans for the country if elected!!
I get so tired of hearing all of the promises and flowery speeches about the dreams they have for our country. I just want to hear honest facts. Tell me what you would like to do, how you plan to accomplish it, the problems you feel you will encounter in getting to your goals, and how you will resolve them. Give me your resume of experience and achievements. Make campaigning more of a job interview then a flag waving, baby kissing, parade across America.
