LUV - Glad to hear my ranting about being unorganized is working for someone. I didn't mean to send you off thinking about those files of yours!

Onaroll - Murphy's a jerk, huh?!?! I hope all goes well with your surgery. Someone will step up to fill your PTO shoes but only after they're absolutely certain that you are stepping down. They'll hold out for awhile hoping you'll change your mind. I left my successor high and dry since I moved away so I have to say it's very thoughtful of you to work in a one year transition period.

It's too early (even for Jimmy Buffet) for anything too serious so how about a nice warm cup of chai tea? OK, fine, I understand. Mimosa's it is. Mmmm

onaroll, here's a big pitcher of margaritas! I had knee surgery a couple years ago and was very nervous about it too. I just kept reminding myself how great it was going to be to not be in constant pain and no longer have the risk of it giving out as I was going down the stairs. I had lots of family and friends who helped me out. My mother-in-law wondered why she had even come on one day because I had a steady stream of visitors all day long-someone had to be there to open the door!

If it snows the day you get it done, just have them give you a wheel chair instead of crutches and then go cut some cookies in the parking lot!

Hi everyone! I haven't been around for quite a while, I've stopped in here and there. Looks like everyone had a great holiday season! Crew - Disney sounds like it was fantastic!! My family would fly back today if we could!

On the PTO front - this is my last year. Too much going on with work, plus, my youngest only has a year left in the school. Time to turn it over to someone while I'll still be around to help out if they need it. Here's the clincher - finding a replacement. Plenty of time left yet but everybody is so busy these days. I'm sure it will all work out. We are blessed to have incredible parents. I'm sure we'll get someone wonderful!

On the home front - ankle surgery coming up. I'm sitting here at work (should be working, obviously) jumping every time the phone rings, hoping it's the nurse calling to schedule the surgery. Chipped, cracked piece of bone they will take out. Should recover quick.

Oh - did I mention I live in central New York? Usually the "golden snowball" winner each year for the most snow. It's been 60 degrees out and ready for an ultimate Murphy's Law? It will blizzard the day I walk out of the surgery on crutches for 2-3 weeks! Ice / rubber bottomed crutches... don't mix well.

Basically, it's Monday, I'm sad, I'm nervous and I would love one of the famous virtual drinks right about now!

Thanks for letting me let off stress..

P.S. Tim - new site is nice! Still getting used to it but thumb's up!!

I am having a real Monday experience this morning. I truly do not want to be here at work. I just want to be at home finishing the file cleaning I was doing yesterday and cooking. Then I want to sit down and read a book until my kids come home.

I forgot who was asking about the hormone thing, but my daughter also started with the mood swings in 5th grade. They are supposed to start their "cycles" approximately 1 year after breast development begins, but the hormones kick in before that. There were times when I just told her she needed to go sit in her room until she could be civil. She does that on her own now. 6th grade was her worst year-she was a holy terror.

Silver - I'm glad you had such a relaxing weekend! Maybe the PTO Today conferences should include a spa day..... I got an email message today that I think was meant for you:

Stress Management
A lecturer, when explaining stress management to an audience, raised a glass of water and asked, “How heavy is this glass of water?" Answers called out ranged from 8oz. to 20oz. The lecturer replied, "The absolute weight doesn't matter. It depends on how long you try to hold it. If I hold it for a minute, that's not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I'll have an ache in my right arm. If I hold it for a day, you'll have to call an ambulance." "In each case, it's the same weight, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes." He continued, "And that's the way it is with stress management. If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later, as the burden becomes increasingly heavy, we won't be able to carry on." "As with the glass of water, you have to put it down for a while and rest before holding it again. When we're refreshed, we can carry on with the burden." "So, before you return home tonight, put the burden of work/life down. Don't carry it home. You can pick it up tomorrow. Whatever burdens you're carrying now, let them down for a moment if you can." "Relax; pick them up later after you've rested. Life is short. Enjoy!" And then he shared some ways of dealing with the burdens of life:

* Accept that some days you're the pigeon, and some days you're the statue.
* Always keep your words soft and sweet, just in case you have to eat them.
* Always read stuff that will make you look good if you die in the middle of it.
* Drive carefully. It's not only cars that can be recalled by their Maker.
* If you can't be kind, at least have the decency to be vague.
* If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.
* It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.
* Never buy a car you can't push.
* Never put both feet in your mouth at the same time, because then you won't have a leg to stand on.
* Nobody cares if you can't dance well. Just get up and dance.
* Since it's the early worm that gets eaten by the bird, sleep late.
* The second mouse gets the cheese.
* When everything's coming your way, you're in the wrong lane.
* Birthdays are good for you. The more you have, the longer you live.
* You may be only one person in the world, but you may also be the world to one person.
* Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.
* We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull,
some have weird names, and all are different colors, but they all have to live in the same box.
"A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.

Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for awhile and leave footprints on our hearts. And we are never, ever the same."
