Hey Silver, I wuld see if you can contact someone from the county foster care dept. They are always in need of items! We have a terrible amount of meth labs in our county and a friend of mine gave me the same idea when I was cleaning out my boys closet. She said many times the kids come to the foster care with the diaper or jammies they were wearing when mom and dad were arrrested, nothing else! So ours took all the coats, some shoes, jeans, socks, etc I could fit in my van. She even took a couple car seats I had that were in good shape. It's very worth looking into....nice tax write-off too if they reciept your donation!
I did consignment with my maternity and nicer work clothes. My experience was much nicer but I was also exctied to go back and use my store credit to purchase much needed items for me! The hard part is how fast your stuff sells. I was lucky, my maternity stuff sold fast (big boom in the Spring of new preggers) but my work stuff took a few months.
I've done the resale shop thing too and got fed up when after several years of HER calling ME to ask when I was bringing things in, she hired help and one of them refused to even look at my stuff because they "already had so much on the racks". I looked at the stuff on the racks and it was junk. I probably should have called the owner, but figured to heck with them. Then I was asked to join a charitable organization that uses a HUGE consignment sale as their fundraiser. All the money benefits children, so that's where the really nice stuff goes now. Check your town for something similar. Things that don't qualify for the sale go to the Salvation Army.
SF - Do you eBay? If so, try selling some of the clothes there. I do this twice a year. In the early spring for summer clothes and again in the fall for winter stuff. Sort everything by size and of course only sell what is in very good condition. Works great and usually sells at great prices. I have done the consignment store thing but around here, it takes 3 months to get a check and I always have to call to remind them to pay me! Everything else goes to Goodwill.
Morning Everyone - Fresh up from a long evening last night. I feel as if I have a hang over but without the booze. Absolutely thrilled I have 2 meetings today ... feeling like this should really make them interesting. Since everyone is in the 'filing' mode lately I also decided to begin the process. My first task is to reclaim my mud/laundry room. For seasons I have been throwing my kids outgrown cothes in bags & storing them in the laundry room. Well - I can't find my counter and the floor is begining to vanish so it's time to inventory, bag and visit the local source of salvation (Salvation Army). I have been told I should take the clothes to a local resale shop but my last visit to the resale shop told me they specialize in infant and toddler clothes. What do you guys think? Donate or resale? Maybe they specialize in young clothes because they don't have donnors with other options right now. Hmmm ...
Have a good day all!

yeah nice quotes but I like you title Shawn.... than again I AM a lady HA!
In my front yard is 32 inches of snow....I know I have a backyard and I see a playset...that's it. On my sidewalk is a wonderful 8 foot high pile of snow that was cleared from the street (remember I have boys and they did measure it!) and MORE SNOW this weekend! It's not so much snow, but can it be somethign besides white? WHat if pale blue snow fell from the sky? Imagine if you will. Nope ice tea is all I be drinking.
i hate snow....hate slush even more!!
The snow (and two snow days) have allowed me extra time to perge a few items from 1997 I wonder why we moved! Also time to learn how to run, used, and love a snow blower we have yet to use because we didn't know how! (Instructions died with mother-in-law) --hey you love your folder for your swimming pool and I have my new snow blower folder! Laminated too! Something fun I found, a PTO Today from 2004 that I was featured in. Scary boo!
This is the third or fourth "make over" for the site, I like this one the most! WELL DONE TIM!
Wow! The place looks great and it's really hopping in here. I've been trying to get organized ,too. I have a filing cabinet for our stuff and a couple of file boxes for PTO stuff (that way I can just take it to the PTO room when my time is up and the next person will be ready). I've been doing this 6 years and 3 as President. I'm finally getting time to sit down and watch Oprah from earlier today. I love Dr. Oz!!!! Do any of you ever have those days where you feel like your brain in malfunctioning? I just keep forgetting the details and I am the detail person, it's very frustrating...it may be the cold medicine, but I keep forgetting to take it too until my nose tries running off my face! Have great night.
The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris
