Pulled out a pork tenderloin for dinner tonight; I am thinking of marinating it before hand ... any tips from our cooks out there? I could force myself to open those cook books people keep buying for me (must be a hint if I keep getting them) but in the end my man is a ‘meat & potato’ person so too fancy wouldn’t be the ticket.
We haven’t resorted to running out for dinner often seen as how any town is 25 minutes out but we have been known to hit one of those take n bake pizza shops a couple times a month. Right now I am just resorting to chicken fingers, home made pizza, fish sticks, mac-n-cheese … basically anything the kids will eat without argument. This could be one of the reasons my kids also grown at the school lunch menu – don’t dare prepay for more than one month of hot lunch ahead of time around here.

LUV--you can keep the weather--don't want it here! BUT I AM TIRED OF ALL THIS RAIN!!! My backyard is flooded--I went out this morning to save the little red wiggles car from getting swept away in the creeks current--we have a creek out back but as of right now its up in the back yard about 25 foot from my back door --and about knee deep if you go in a few steps--UGHHHHH! At least its not to the house--we have been here 5 years and the former homeowners were here over 25 years and they said they never got water in the basement and we haven;t either so I guess we are lucky for that--it hasn't come any closer to the house then it is right now and its done this a few times since we have lived here so ...as long as it doesn't come in closer I can dream we are living near the ocean or something LOL--Look out the bedroom window and see nothing but water...LOL!!
OH IS THERE SUCH A THING AS SILENCE!! LOL!!
I need that recipe for the applesauce cake if it means the kids are quiet and no one is gonna be in trouble LOL--quiet here usually means something bad is happening LOL!!

My goodness, it took me forever to catch up. I've been missing the party!! We've got ice, lots of ice. I hate ice, well except when it's floating in a margarita. Rather have a foot of snow. Oops, just looked out the window...it's snowing! On top of the ice. Kids got out early Friday because of the weather, but were saved a snow(ice) day today because they were already off for MLK day. Are they enjoying it? No, because the electricity keeps going off. Did I tell you I hate ice? Hubby is taking them out adventuring, while I'm here at work.

All you east coast folks, this lovely weather is headed your way!

I cooked bunches this weekend because it was too crappy to go out and I was bored. Best of it all was the applesauce spice cake with real whipped cream. They were totally silent while eating that. Silence means it's really good.

Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat.

Hey Perusing - HAPPY BIRTHDAY! You're a Capricorn, just like hubby. Only, I hope you're not just like hubby. He takes the dark side traits a little too seriously!

Traditional Capricorn Traits
Practical and prudent
Ambitious and disciplined
Patient and careful
Humorous and reserved

On the dark side....
Pessimistic and fatalistic
Miserly and grudging

Silver - you're funny. I agree - the creativity is gone from my cooking too because it isn't worth the effort. The shorty is not the pickiest kid ever, but he's got to be close to it. Hubby has to eat out a lot and gets bored with the fancy stuff. At home he's just a meat and potatoes guy. I remember when I was a kid, there were no food battles. Mom had to cook for 7 people on a tight budget so we "ate what she made and were lucky to have it!" She sure was creative. How many of you ate ground beef/pork & beans over boiled potatoes? But, I never went hungry so I have a lot to be thankful for - except for the liver & onions. I'll never be thankful for that.

Silver that is my New Years Resolution--to cook more. We have really gotten bad about just running to Wendy's or Pizza Hut. And it isn't neccessarily having to cook every night. I made chili Friday and then we had chili dogs on Saturday, so that still counts as cooking right? Plus, I agree, if they get hungry enough, they will eat it right?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PWC!!!!! Good luck with all those meetings!

It is going to be 70 degrees here in GA today! I am digging my capris out. Unfortunately tomorrow though it will be 47. :(
