Sorry one quick note we tried the every month thing and they get burned out so we went to the one month dads and one month moms and then we skipped a month
for some reason that worked so great for the parents.
The every month thing started out great but then started to fall off so please pace your selves and good luck.

We had our Doughnuts with dad and wen wedid our first one last year we thought that we would only fill the library and that was it, but as the time came and dads poured in we filled our library our art room our computer room and our science room and our gym with dads.we were do excited that we had aprox. 200 dads and twe have just finished our one for this year and we stil had the same sucess. The dads have also volunterred to fix up our playground, paint our school
walls ,volunteer to read to our children, and help monitor our lunchroom .I tip my hat to our dads they are such an inspiration to our school.Great Job dads of Lowell Academy.

I'm just curious if your school serves breakfast. We have a large population of low income kids that eat breakfast at school on a free or reduced program. Also, is your school a neighborhood school or are your kids bused in from miles away? I think both of these things could impact our doing this at our school.

Our school doesn't serve breakfast, and we do not have kids bused in from too far away. It might make it harder to schedule, but if you advertised it a lot, I'll bet some dads/moms could manage to get the morning off. We had dads, some that worked up to 2 hours away, change their schedule and go in later just so that they could come to school with their kids. We live in a small town with lots of kids from neighboring small towns attend our schools, and some parents had to drive their kids 40 minutes to get to school, instead of sending them on the bus, but they did it.

All you can do is try it.

Just wondering, how many students are in your schools? We have 650-ish, if we had this and even half of the parents come, it could get costly. Do you get the donuts/muffins at reduced rates or are they donated? We had thought about a fundraiser of Donuts for Dad for Father's Day, but had never thought of anything like this. It sound like fun. I would appreciate any info possible.

We've been doing both the Muffins with Mom (will do in Spring)and Donuts for Dad (will do in November) every year since I can remember. We always have such a big turn out that we always bake more than we can ever imagine we'll need. Rarely do we have anything left over. We also take pictures of the kids with their parent and make a lot on the pictures. We couldn't ask for a better turn out than these events! We send out a basic note saying who, what, where and when. Then we send home notes inviting the parent to that particular morning. The kids fill in Mom / Dad and sign their names at the bottom. We also let them bring an uncle, friend, special person or even mom if their is no father figure in their lives. We basiclly turn no one away if a child wants to bring someone. We only charge for the pictures and never have for the donuts, coffee or juice. It's also a way to have parent meet their friend's parents and to make friends and a great way for parents to spend a "little extra time" with their kids! It is always an awesome thing for us! I highly recommend this for any school! ;)
