Sounds like you did a great job! I am in the process of getting donations for a June raffle, and am just outside of Allentown in Berks county. Would love to talk!
Hi! My name is Jesi and I am a junior in high school. I just wanted to send a big thank you to everyone who has posted to this list. I personally procured $3,000 worth of items for my school's auction (I'll post the list soon). The auction grossed just under $102,000.
One thing I found to be helpful was holiday gift guides. It gave me basket idea for different demographics like foodies and music lovers.
I live in a suburb outside Seattle and I looked up events like Seattle Resturant Week and contacted restaurants from the list and I ended up getting 3 certificates that way. I've noticed people tend to spend more on experiences than some items. Try seeing if any parents have cabins or condos in places that they wouldn't mind letting someone stay in for a weekend. We have a family who does this and they put the restriction on it that whoever buys it cannot stay on major holidays like New Years and Fourth of July.
Please keep up all the amazing work! As a student, I feel those who spend so much time running and planning these auctions are underappreciated for their dedication to the cause. Thank you for all you do and just know, even if you don't get the full thanks you deserve, we students really are grateful for the opportunities the money you raise give us.
Id love to tell you about our event! Our Kratzer Kountry Fair takes plce on may each year. We have a food vendor, Italian ice truck, soft pretzels, cotton candy, pizza, etc. As far as rides, moon bounce, teacup type ride, swings, dunk tanks, etc. Then the typical "fair" games (duck pond, lollipop wagon, ball tosses, etc). Usually hire a high school student to DJ. The company we do school pics/yearbooks with donated photo booth services. Bake sale and basket raffle. This year we are adding a book swap. Oh, and local fire companies/police brings trucks, police dogs, etc. Spin art, cake walk.....im rambling but you get the idea! We've had sport team mascots in the past. Really a huge undertaking, but the families love it and the neighborhood even gets involved. Always a Friday night, 5 hours. I'll be sure to update everyone after may 8 and let you know how it went!
