I solicit in-kind donations for a school in Southern California as well. Many of the hotels that I have contacted in Vegas have restrictions on their giving. One of the restrictions is that they will only donate if you live or work in Las Vegas. Many companies do restrict their giving to non-profits located in cities where their main offices or factories are located so this is not an uncommon thing. I have limited my Nevada soliciting to Reno and Laughlin because I have not had much luck with Las Vegas. Try the Atlantis Resort & Spa in Reno or Avi Casino in Laughlin. They are always very generous and will donate a one or two night stay plus breakfast. Other casino's donate regularly, but these two are the ones that I remember by name.
Hope this helps! Good luck with your fundraising efforts!
I contacted a local adventure company that I saw on groupon, asking for a donation. They wrote back that they've been inundated with requests and have to say no, but ask again next year.
I wrote back thanking them anyway, and telling them they could still send coupons or flyers and I'd be happy to put them on the vendor table. They then wrote back and gave me the donation!
Sometimes taking the minute to say "thank you anyway" turns things around!
