Does anyone have a sample donation request letter?

Hello everyone.. We are getting a very very late start this year, our president just passed out our lists of contacts Monday night. We have a tiny PTO because lack of welll... anyway I spent a great deal of time last year getting donations and the old message board had a wealth of information on it. I loved reading all 300+ pages of it.

I am wondering though since our PTO isn't 501(c) and have no interest in it, how many of these places will take our NCES number instead of the 501(c) for the PTO. Actually the school is the one hosting the auction and the PTO is just helping with the coordinating of it. I found that Disney uses this number and I am thinking GreenMountainCoffee does as well although I haven't had time to try it out yet. Does anyone have any tips for us on how to utilize this number in lieu of a 501(c) number.

I submitted my request for Disney and received a response the very next day that I was approved.

Disney took three weeks, American Girl took two weeks from the date of the last request(had to send them a request three times). Good luck!

I have a quick question for those of you that have applied for Disney tickets and the American Girl Doll. Do they let you know before shipping anything that they will donate? And when did they let you know by? Also did they ship the items immediately for was it just before your event? TIA!!!!

We've recieved donations from The Magic House, 54th Street Bar and Grill, and a local Applebees (I've only been soliciting for a couple weeks.) How about you guys? Anywhere specific I should try?
