We received American Girl after a couple of months but had to send 3 requests...Disney took a month plus. Amtrak approved us in three weeks. We got a no on all airlines. Our auction is in 3 weeks. We're at $65000 in donations. We're getting close, marketing the auction heavily right now and praying we hit our financial goal for fundraising!
Its been about 3 weeks since I sent out emails/mailings and have only heard back from a few. So far only yes is Disney Parkhopper tickets, redbox 25 codes, minted.com a $200 gift certfificate and auction kit and Stampin Up gift basket. My no's are JetBlue, Nickolodean Hotel Orlando, Stoneyfield, Entertainment Cruises Boston. Hoping to get more responses soon, especially Southwest, American Girl and Amtrak. I emailed local companies that were on groupon and living social and have gotten 2 no's back and no other responses that way. We have got a lot from all local bussinesses:coffee shops, restaurants, hotels, salons, shops, sports teams..... I am going to try and hit up the local chain stores and restaurants in person this week, will see how that goes!
I just heard from American Girl in an e-mail yesterday - they said they will be sending the doll and book in the next few weeks. I applied in mid-February online and our event is in four weeks.
I applied for American Girl doll the end of February and our event is in May. I haven't heard from them. I didn't know if they respond and tell you that you are not getting a donation or if they just send it. And, if they send it, do they let you know.
Just wanted to say again how much I've learned from this board! The advice and tips have been invaluable to us in planning our first silent auction. Our event is Saturday and we're hoping for a good turnout. We were limited on time to plan, but we have received a wonderful response, both national and local companies. We've advertised, have had writeups in the newspapers and hope to have the TV stations announce it. We will have a radio spot Friday morning, so hoping that brings some last minute bidders! We have about $10,000 worth of items to auction, plus a raffle for a new 4th Gen iPad, so we're hoping to raise at least $5,000 between those. Very nervous. Good luck to everyone else who has events in the coming weeks!
