What I have learned about how to get donations from restaurants!
Some you have to go to the nearest location and some you have to go to the corporate website. a great way to do online research is to Search: 'the company name' and "donation request" this will usually take you to the most current method for donation request for that restaurant.
ALOT of times it takes leg work, literally! When going to make donation requests, here are some tips.
1. DO NOT come during Dinner, Lunch or Breakfast Rush and expect to talk to someone. usually the best time to go is after or between serving times for each rush period. so for example after lunch 1:45-4:30 is a good time.
2. Remember when you go in to be very friendly to the staff. Tell them why you are there (donation) and if you can speak to whoever is in charge of donations. Give them the letter or any other information you have to support your cause/Event. If that person is not "IN" ask when they are expected and the best time to visit or call.
3. You will have to wait. Just because you are there does not mean they have to drop what they are doing and come see you. They may not be able to do that. Sometimes they are reconciling the $ from the last shift. I always make it about their convenience. I want to partner with them and build a relationship so myself or future fundraisers with my cause/event can get future support!
4. it helps if you are a 501(c)(3) but is not always necessary. The worst thing that might happens is you get a NO.
Hi! In order to get restaurant gift cards for a donation did you go into the local resturant and ask for gift card donations or how did you accomplish that?
