Hi all we had our auction this past sunday and it was a huge success, dont have numbers yet but everyone was extrememly thrilled with all the prizes I had. For those of you just starting out, i highly recommend getting your donation requests into the big corporations at the beginning of the new year no later then March, I began last March and got almost everything I requests except for a few no's but then went to the towns we service and the businesses were great.
I will once again begin the new chapter this coming year end of feb to send out letters and hope to have another successful auction again in December. Important is the wording on your letters and to be sure your 501(c) 3 matches up with the address were items are to be delivered. Also for those who get a return response card from vendors, it is extrememly important to return them as they will not eif you did not and there is a possibility of not getting a requested donation from them int he future.
All in all this site has been extrememly helpful for me as this was my first year running the auction and I do not know what I would have done without all of you so thank you all so very much and keep the tips and donation lists coming.
Hope everyone has a Wonderful Holiday and an even better New Year.
For DC/MD area, I've had success with Golf Galaxy, Baltimore RAvens, BSO.
Also, I had success with a local cooking school that provided a gift cert for classes. Sometimes looking in the local paper or local parent magazine gives you some new ideas too.
