Here's one of my mom's from way back for the acorn squash...very unhealthy but so yummy!
Preheat your oven to 350F.
Cut squash in half and make the middle a nice well in each half. Fill each half's well with butter, cinnamon, brown sugar. Thick coats, yup, slather it all in there. Put them in a baking dish where they can stand upright against each other and let them bake for about 30-45 minutes until really tender. The time they're in the oven just depends on how big they are.
If you want them really moist too, just cover the top of each squash half with a small piece of tin foil with a couple little holes for steam to get out.

Just thought I'd check to see what everyone is up to this weekend ~ or for those Monday morning readers see how your weekend was? We have had a great weekend. Weather was absolutely out of the ball park ... no doubt our last weekend of summer. Halloween costume shopping, pumpkin patch pickin', exterior holiday decorating and we relaxed watching the movie Wild Hogs. What a 'roll in the isle' movie! I was a bit put off by some of the frequent language usage but all in all it was a good laugh. I picked up some butternut and acorn squash but can't seem to find a recipe that sounds out of this world ... anyone?

Oh my---poor dear--I'm glad we haven't hit it yet but I do have a powerful head cold and suspect that'll hit the rounds pretty soon...
Hang in there...no magic wands but I do remember whenever I got sick my mom would come into my room, change my sheets, vacuum everything and dust and then wash my face with a bowl of warm water. She always smelled so lovely (I suspect now she put on perfume before hand just for me). It is still one of my favorite memories and despite being sick I always felt so safe and secure...mom's attention is way better than a magic wand...and almost worth getting sick....

Summer is now officially over and the school year has officially begun. You all ask, what does she mean? Of course it has!
Because the stomach bug is here....we didn't even get through the first full month of school. Poor kid, she's sooo tired and icky:( This is when Mommies wish they had a magic wand to wave it away.

Wow, I am really torn tonight. Son tells me that he has one of his football games rescheduled for next Thursday night. The same night of our elementary school festival. Of course, no one stepped up to chair so I am by default. I really feel bad, I know I need to be at the game, yet I only have one parent who volunteered to work the entire night. Guess I will set up the PTO area and make up a list of where everyone needs to be and what time and ask this parent to direct everyone and then come back to help clean up. I hope the rest of the year doesn't go this way!
