I just made some canolis. Talk of all this Italian food made me hungry, so we had a nice dinner of manicotti and canolis for dessert.
The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris
OH I am in heaven, if there's anything I like more than garlic, it's cheese. Well, chocolate is right up there too. I make a "to-die-for" snickers chocolate cake. It's my company's coming and church potluck dessert. I've never experienced ricotta in anything other than lasagne, so please share your recipe, soccermom and thank you. I look foreward to tasting it.
I see there's another Family Fun Fanatic here also. I have had a subscription since my son turned one, almost seven years ago and it doesn't expire for two more. But I sure will be re-newing when we start our magazine fundraiser next month. (It's only 10 bucks for a year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Between family, school, PTA, and Cub Scouts, every monthly issue gets a real work out. I keep every back issue and can't foresee a time when I would be willing to part with any of them.
The lasagne is in the fridge, y'all help yourselves. I think a nice red wine (preferably from my region of Michigan) will go very nicely with it. Enjoy!!!
I come from a family of good cooks--one grandmother was "off the boat" from Italy, the other is a devout baptist southern lady. I don't need to mention that high cholesterol is heireditary?!?!? One thing that I've learned from the both of them is...eyeball everything-there's no such thing as a measuring cup unless you're baking!!! And enjoy food--I never use low fat, non fat, etc. It's always the "real deal" when it comes to cooking...just moderate the portions, right?
My italian "nona" taught me to make lasagne, using ground sausage, ground pork, and ground beef. Brown them together with garlic ...magnifico!! When you're done with the lasagne, I have an excellent recipe for Torte di Ricotta (ricotta cake)--just in case you didn't meet you day's "cheese" quota!!!
YUMMY!!! Boy, does that sound good closetwriter!
I like lots of meat in my lasagne, so I put a pound of each,Italian sauage and burger. And then I still add more of my own spices. I own over 50 cookbooks and I still rarely use a recipe! I don't understand it?????? Even when I use a recipe, I still tweek it to my own taste, and if it isn't a sweet, I have to have garlic, can never get enough garlic.
I'll be back later with the lasagne, I'm just going to start it now.
Hello all! Someone pour me a strong one, will ya? I don't care of what, just as long as it's potent.
This has been a pretty easy PTA week, tis the personal side of life has got me in a snit. Guess I'll just suck it up and go on.
Hey closetwriter, you bet I'll take those UPCs, please send to Birch Street Elementary Att: Debbie Ball-Odeh KEPTA 309 N. Birch St. Kalkaska, MI 49646 THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
I'm making lasagne tomorrow so I'll bring some in to share. I use sausage and burger and a minimum of 5 cheeses......so yummy! If there are leftovers, they never last long, cause that pan sits in the fridge calling out to me. LOL
It's been 20 below for the past three mornings in a row, I am so glad tomorrow is Saturday and I won't have to get out in it again for two days.
It sounds like you need a break. Come on in and sit down and we'll chat. I'm dealing with people like this at work. I know what you mean about certain people. They don't know enough to come out of the rain sometimes.
LUV check out "Family Fun" Feb. issue. they have some neat ideas on what you're looking for.
