Round four of registration today! Nope, not kidding! STILL have around 300+ check-in forms not checked-in and got news today if I could help next Tuesday with ROUND 5 of check-in!!! I'm thinking someone could take soem time to call these people and find out if they are coming or not! Now granted we are not the neighborhood school, as a charter school we are a school of choice and many register at ours while waiting to get into the new neighborhood school. Our joke in the office is as long as they stay until Oct 1 (big count day for the state to determine our funding) we have forms for them on the 2nd!
Didn't even have a PTO table today, I did help with the check-out table and made a new friend by aphabetizing all...all the forms! K-12 student forms were just sitting there!
On a fun note....if you have back issues of PTO Today I am also a parent once interviewed. Tim had to talk me into it as I was very pregnant and very camera shy! My mom still has the article in her purse......ps. she is doing better and sounds real good! Still miss her.
Ahhh, school supplies! Last year my daughter was supposed to have 12 plain front two pocket folders with no fasteners in 12 DIFFERENT colors. They don't make 12 DIFFERENT colors. We finally bought from a couple of brands so the colors were slightly different. I think they make the list but no one actually goes out and checks to see if what they want is even possible or economically feasible for all the families. One year there was an elementary teacher who was looking for those vis-a-vis markers too(she wanted them to have 3 different colors) and all you could find were 12 packs. I bought one, let my son pick the colors he wanted and donated the rest to the classroom, because I knew there were families who couldn't afford to buy those expensive markers! You know, those didn't come home at the end of the year either! Did they get all used up? Bet not!
As for my addiction-there was divine intervention. I printed the signs, but because I was developing a migraine I left work early and what do you know, I left them on the printer! So we had NO SIGNS! Too hilarious! I just chatted it up with every parent that came to the table. I think that works better anyway. Sucked in 3 new parents!!!!!(insert evil laugh) Pretty good for 1 1/2 hours, huh?
JHB's the matriarch of this board! She's helped me with so many issues over the years and still checks in with her knowledge, even though her kids have moved beyond elementary school. And if you go back far enough into your back issues of PTOToday, you can even find a photo and profile of this uber-volunteer!
