I think I did nothing but run today. Kids are out of school for 3 days. Conferences. Family pictures tomorrow. Dog needed a bath (had to take him to the vet b/c it's too cold here) and driving down the highway with a 70lb lab bouncing around in my Blazer was a bit of an experience. Weather so cold my back spasms every time I open a door. Haircuts. Grocery shopping.

CC- Thanks for the thought but I don't do very well with plants. If it's not yelling my name or tugging on me, I'm very likely to forget I need to take care of it. We inherited 2 rose bushes, 2 climbing rose bushes with falling apart porch and trellises, a grape arbor (8 plants), rasberry bushes, pear tree, some kind of dwarf cherry tree, and a large yard lined with huge Maple trees that haven't been cared for in years that I've been trying to learn how to maintain. Did I mention I'm not really an outdoors person? :) If we would have inherited a farm, I would have been much more likely to succeed in not killing everything in sight.

Well it seems my oldest has some sort of stomach ailment so my night just got a little more exciting. And I was so hoping to get to sit and watch Grey's Anatomy without commercials or interuptions.

The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris

Oh, that's a brilliant idea. Thanks! And the whole back yard is a wooded hillside that I could plant them in. Thanks for giving me something to look forward to!!!! :D

One house I rented before I was married had a huge bed of Lily of the Valley all down one side of the house. They were so pretty when they all bloomed. I had forgotten about them until you just mentioned it. I'll have to get some to add to my flower beds.

Could you order them in a few weeks and have them shipped to arrive at your new house after you get there? That would be a pleasant box to open and something to get you outside and away from unpacking!

Oh no, wait, I can't order them. I'm moving in six weeks and they will not survive the move. I'll have to wait until after I move to get something. Guess I'll just head back to Lowe's......

Sheesh. Six weeks. Time flies.

I'm about to head to my favorite website, www.whiteflowerfarm.com to order some Lily of the Valley pips. You have to really baby them for a few weeks but when they finally bloom, it's all worth it. Then, in the summer, you can transplant them outside. They'll multiply like mad over the years and reward you time and time again. Well, that's the theory anyway. My MIL says so. I've never lived anywhere long enough to know but I leave a nice start at every house for the next people to enjoy.

You know I usually have some crocus peeking their little heads out of the ground by now, but they're missing in action. I think this bitter cold has them slowed down-or the stinking squirrel ate them. I so love seeing all the little sprigs of green from the crocus, tulips, and daffodils popping up from my flower beds. Lets you know that winter really will be over soon.
