Ummm, d, I think cottonwood is a boy (ex-male or something anyway....)
Way to go on the reading night. I agree with d. It was a success.
I don't know what we get in Alabama but for the entire month of March everything was covered in a thin, powdery green film. Then we had a huge thunderstorm yesterday and it's all gone. ?????
I'm reading a great book right now, Love Walked In. Guess what? The part I'm on now is the day after Christmas and everyone is having left over pie for breakfast! It's making me hungry for pie.....
I'll bet the newspaper announcement is great, d. Tell hubby that between the bon bons, the massage and the pedicure that you just didn't have much time for anything else.
Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for awhile and leave footprints on our hearts. And we are never, ever the same."
"The ultimate aim of karate lies not in victory or defeat but in the true perfection of one's character."
Don't you hate it when you have your day planned and then something comes along and kicks the plan to the trash. Today I was going to write our newsletter but at 9:30 my husband's dad called frantic because his home town is inducting folks into their hall of fame...he wanted me to do the write up (of course) and it was due in FLORIDA by the 6th....so guess what I did all day--despite laundry upstairs, a front walk and entry area that is CRYING for support from home and a newsletter that still isn't written. To top it off hubby will say "what did you do all day" and I won't be able to tell him....
Cotton--if you had 5 children that read on a night that they normally would not you've made an impact....go girl!!

Sorry to hear about the reading night. We've had events turn out like that too, but I always say that the people who came had fun, so that was X number of people who benefited from our efforts.
We don't get brush fires here in Iowa, we just worry about the corn dying from lack of rain in the summer.
Well, our reading night was a small success. Small because of the turnout, but you know what, with the smaller turnout, things went so smoothly and it wasn't stressful. Bottom line, the kids had a blast. I had limited dates to choose from, but having the event on a Friday was probably a main reason for the small turnout. But, it was more intimate, and very fun.
We got some southern california "snow" this weekend... by snow, I mean ash falling from brush fires. Saturday a brush fire broke out in the outskirts of our town, and the wind was blowing ash all over my home, about 10 miles away. So I had a small layer of ash on the barbecue... no biggie, just gave it more of a mesquite flavor! (for the record, the fire seems to be under control, and no school will be missed around here. A local high school was used for evacuations on saturday, but all is good now.)
To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world.
I know Shawn--they're kicking butt. I don't think we had the coach scandal...that was LSU--but this coach is tough. They started off very poorly at the start of the year and she was like a tough love parent. Took away their cushy locker room, made them do their own laundry...said when they started playing like a college team they'd be afforded the perks of such a team...and man did they step up. Their defense against LSU was AMAZING...The coach is the third winningest coach in the Women's NCAA.
Man--hubby and I have to keep finding all those RU clothes we had packed away with the teams doing as well as they are!!! Actually he's always been a stalwart supporter but I hate to lose!!!!
k- d, is it (was it) you who is the Rutgers fan???
I tried looking at former posts -
the Lady Scarlet Knights (although a great story with all those frosh and their poor start to the season, aside from the coach scandal) - they've totally screwed my Women's NCAA basketball bracket
Go Volunteers (I know- but its a long story on why I root for the Lady Volunteers)
