page two......

I need advice (definitely not PTO related) and where better to come than my friends at PTO Today.

My darling 13-year old son has discovered - hmmm, shall we say "mature" content via the internet. I suspected something was up when I came home early and found him closeted in the office, playing on the computer with the door completely closed, even though he was the only one home.

So... I checked the history site and definitely some eye opening material was accessed this afternoon. (Actually, my husband was rather impressed.)

What to do next?? Neither of us wants to overreact. It is natural curiousity. We were all sneaking peaks at National Geographic or medical texts at that age.

My husband's plan is to say nothing and have us install parental controls on the computers preventing additional access. He figures that alone will send a message that we know what's going on.

Anyone been through this? Any suggestions?

Sideways is my favorite..... :o

Silver, are you from Ohio? Every person I've ever met from Ohio had NO accent - perfect pronunciation, diction, everything. You guys should all be English teachers.

I've always called it pop. In the south, it seems all soda is called coke. One word that drives me batty is sody. Yuck Yuck Yuck

My son actually threw out the word cain't recently, as in "Wes asked me to come over after school today but I told him I cain't". It was so cute I couldn't even correct him.

Still researching the 'IT' definition, term, or whatever 'IT' is.... all I knows is the partyline 'The Woman is the nurturer and caretaker, children raiser and the father is the caretaker, family supporter, breadwinner' is total BS

It works both ways, sideways, backwards, whatever ways the parents want.

Accents- sweet!!

Sensuous (sp??) (def) Sensuous up- fetch me a colldbeer, darling. ;)

Hows yous all doin' today. Wes got some strange weather around these parts. Rainy this morn, overcast and then that darn sun came spittin' right out just in time for it to set itself. Do you know where the bubbler is? Those flatlanders keep offering me some pop but I'd rather have soda or water.
How's that for the midwest speak?
Born in the midwest but some how managed to survive the accent / habit. Most tell me that I don't have an accent which they find strange becasue most have some kind of an accent ... must be all the moving around in my late teens, 20's and 30's.
How are the Easter plans coming along? Our family hosts Easter each year which includes a huge egg hunt in the late morning followed by a late Ham luncheon. We have our dinner for lunch so we can all hang around for cold ham sands later.

LUV - Very girly, and very summery... I'll take two!

"You guys" is what we say in Chicago. My parents are from Wisconsin and they say "you's", as in "love you's" or "how're you's?"
