Sucker punched by President,HELP

Agree with the conclusion here that fighting out/sniping re: one group's own issues here on the forum won't help your group.

Closing thread. Wish you guys all luck in the taking a breather department and the getting it back on track effort.

Amen!! Am I allowed to say that? Well, I already did:) Thanks LUVMYKIDS and I don't intend to use this forum often. These postings were presented to me by another member to read what someone had written about the situation at our school as that member saw things. I did so and I most likely will not return often. I do have to admit that I did find some interesting ideas. It was nice to see that a lot of people came up with different answers to the same questions, right and wrong are in the eye of the beholder. Every group has a problem member or two, ours included. Our principal suggested the same thing at our meeting, that step back and soul search and we might possibly begin again in the fall with a different approach. He is interested in saving the volunteers as a whole. We can run our school effectively with or without a PTO, but it certainly is more fun with a group. As I said there are one or two in each group...our Officers are wonderful people and we are blessed to have them along with a great administration and teaching staff!

why dont adults, PTO officers and members, who have differing opinions or matters that need addressing, do so in the forum of a PRIVATE MEETING with a neutral mediator present if need be, rather than use PTO meetings to vent frustrations and issues which dont directly affect other members. its all about keeping the peace, keeping non need to know individuals out of issues of which they dont have all the data (or any factual data just rumor) and civility and maintaining a positive PTO community atmosphere. i should think the principal as highest ranking member of the PTO, would be in a good position to mediate such matters between officers and members, and would guide his troops accordingly,. but it all depends on the personality and allegiances and politics of the PRINCIPAL.

tessie, I'm glad to see you jumped in. It's a reminder to all who use this forum that there are TWO sides to every story. I would hope that when people post on here, they are looking for reasonable answers and advice to solve the problems their group may be having, but sometimes it can become a "gripe" session.

I must say I do take affront to your statement that we're all a bunch of women here to gripe and moan. I'm here to look for great ideas to move my group forward, for advice with tough situations, and for a spot where I can occasionally vent a little about something. The mere writing of a message can usually help me view the situation in a more clear and rational manner.

May I suggest that all the people involved in your situation step back and take a breather for a couple of weeks and then sit down and find the common ground that I'm sure exists? After all, I think you're probably all involved for the right reason-your children. I wish you all luck in working through your conflict, but maybe this isn't the place to do it.

Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat.

The "power ridden President," as Queen refers to her, works hard, along with the other officers and members, such as myself, to insure the kids needs are taken care of. Our President will also tell you that she has a lot of help doing that. Queen shows up at meetings to cause trouble and bring attention to herself and rarely, if ever, helps out. The officers of our PTO are dedicated to the kids and teachers of our school.
I beleive it was the principal who was telling PTO about the postings on this site, as he was telling us that we were not going to have an election and why. (it is my guess, that he realized the people on the ballot were not going to be good leaders, as the current Treasurer, President and Vice President decided not to run because of all the false accusations and drama Queen brings to each meeting) No one in their right mind would get involved when false accusations are being made by Queen. The President had turned the meeting over to him at the time the posts were brought up. The President was sitting there quietly when Queen started yelling at her. Queen looked to be getting very nervous when he mentioned this site and the posts. She only came forward out of guilt. Anyone who has read her posts, knows her for who she reallly is now. She twists the truth to make herself look like to a saint and a QUEEN for the kids, when infact we know that is not true. She have never gotten over the fact that she is no longer President and she did not step down gracefully.
In my opinion, the President acted very professionally and walked out of the meeting when Queen started harrassing her, to avoid confrontation and embarrassing our group. Our President is quite a lady, and exactly the kind of person we want involved with our School. Our School will survive all of this! Even if PTO is disbanded, we will carry out our daily activities for the kids.
After our President left, Queen started with our PTO Treasurer and her job at a School Secretary capacity. Queen was the one who brought things to a meeting that did not belong there. No one accused her of anything, she mislead members of this forum in each post she adds here. She needs to step back, take a look at herself. She is quite possibly to be the reason PTO has taken a turn for the worse. People don't get involved becasue of the way Queen acts and the drama she brings to the group, not because of the President or any of the officers or other members. We have a great group, everyone gets along with each other, with the exception of Queen.
My apologies if I hurt anyones feelings, but someone needed to speak up on this subject. From what I can see this forum is pretty much a bunch of women with nothing better to do that to gripe and moan about who is doing what to whom. I had to read the posts for myself. Now I can say that they were exactly what I expected..drama and fabircations...at any cost! Accusations of money being stolen!? Oh my. I guess you owe some people an apology. If anyone was slandered it was the President, the Treasurer and our PTO!

Then do you guys recommend letting this simmer down and possibly waiting until next fall to elect new officers in? That would be ok to do as an option, i think to help diffuse the situation. because there is alot more under the surface but I think what you all have said is right. Move forward not back. So, I wonder if a little time might help? Us all involved, to kind of sit back and like you guys said, move forward, maybe reflect on what's important here. I think it could help. What do you all think? And I think if we could come up with a viable option our principal would be more likely, not to disband the PTO.
