Sucker punched by President,HELP

I'm with AvonMom - why didn't you, as President for the past two year, request an audit of the Treasurer's books? Wasn't that your job as President? Does the Treasurer provide monthly reports to the PTO? I also agree with ptoyeah - using a PTO meeting to accuse and slander each other is not the place. Maybe a meeting with the Principal and the affect parties would be the best for everyone. Public meetings are a place to do business about PTO. The way, I see, to get "back on track" for the kids is to move forward and not backwards. Backwards only slow any progression forward.

P.S. The current as far as the by laws, our current pres. has told us for the last year that we have old ones. But I have asked for them and have not received them and we are finally starting a bylaws committee. That was because of myself along with other parents requesting them. as far as the audit- I just figured they did them, only to find out they did not, that was my mistake! I should have checked into that better!

I, before, all of this occurred tried to handle this manner but in did not help. And, yes, I do realize that I have to take responsibility in this also. I do agree with that. You are very right. But with that, I did try before, to do some things to help this situation. And I had no luck. Now we just want to save our PTO. I have no more interest in being president = ). But a very good person does. so that will be great. When i was pres. I did not have a clue! You learn alot from hind sight,Which I have. Thank you

I briefly read through about half of your posts and I can see, knowing who you are regardless of whether you named names, how it can be viewed as hurtful and it's heavily implied that money has been taken (no, you haven't directly accused anyone but I would get the impression that theft had occured). In one area you refer to the President and Treasurer as the terrible twosome...
Also the question of an audit?? You stated you were the President for the last two years prior to this year. Why did you not before you were this year (when you are no longer President), concern yourself with the lack of bylaws and no audit?
I'm giving you this as my impression as I have read through your posts and while your President and others may not be innocent and without fault, I believe that if you truly care about keeping your PTO together, that you also need accept some responsibility and blame... there appears to be a lot of issues here (and perhaps your own lack of or need for control since you are no longer President?)
Everyone needs to set aside their differences if your PTO is to survive...this does include you.
Apologies all around.

queen4thekids, why doesnt your principal consider just voting in new PTO officers rather than disbanding, the latter would only hurt the school/kids etc.
i can empathize with you, our president held an open forum to talk about me, a PTO member, without ever once calling me and talking privately.....sounds like one big gossip and rumor fest went on behind my back (without checking ANY facts of course)...and then they decided based upon hearsay that i should be expelled from the PTO....it sounds to me like the public humiliation you experienced amounts to none other than this: BULLYING. this should not be tolerated by your principal. parents who act like bullies have no business leading PTOs, in my opinion. talk to your principal/supt/school board to find a resolution so as not to disband and hurt the kids the organization is designed to help!!

OK, I don't think the meeting was the proper place to address the issue. I would talk to her personally and try to work this out. But, I personally, felt awful when I learned that someone from my school was complaining and talking about me on this board. It hurt tremendously and I was so angry that this person chose a public forum for everyone to see before coming to me. She never mentioned names or a school, but I knew who she was aiming for. She has since apologized. I don't know what you've posted but, please, be very careful about what you say. I, too, get angry or frustrated and need to vent. I try to talk to fellow officers or ask for specific advice from here without giving alot of personal details. I'm not saying you've done any of that, I'm just saying be careful. Just my 2 cents. ;)
