When you solicit for things via email, do you attach your school letterhead to the email? I ask because I have yet to receive the letter from the PTO pres who has yet to receive it from the principal. I volunteered to solicit donations not realizing I would have next to no time- as of Friday we are 5 wks out, and I really need to be able to get some email requests in. Seems we have already missed many deadlines and I have to do a huge push this week to try to meet the ones with the 30 day deadline. Thank you!
Where are you located in California? There are tons of places to solicit from, depending on your location. Vineyards/wineries, Disney, hotels, local sports teams, local museums, spa's, nail salons, restaurants, kids party places, wine stores, non-chain clothing stores, dry-cleaners - the everyday places you go to. Do you have a Pampered Chef ,Tastefully Simple, Tupperware, etc. contact in your school. Think of this list as giving some extra ideas - most of your donors will be local.
Regarding letters for monetary contributions, please be aware that the PTA is not allowed to solicit for monetary donations (that's the protocol in NY anyway) - there's probably someone who can accurately let you know what is allowed/not allowed in your area.
our gala is coming up at the end of March here in Iowa. I've been filling out forms, sending emails, mailing letters like crazy. We are finally getting some donations in which is exciting because people just don't realize how hard and time consuming this job is. So this site is a blessing.
I'd list my donors but it doesn't seem like to many Midwest people visit but if there are any then i'd be happy to share. Here are my online donors so far.
Redbox {if you get a no then try again the next month}

I tried some consultants and had no luck. I did get StampinUp numerous times. I'm in California. The old threads had a lot of CA places. I was able to get a lot of stuff from there.
If you seek out an independent consultant for Lindt they might be able to help you. I had no luck with Stampin Up but found a Thirty-One consultant that gave a gift and goody bag stuffers made up of pens and her card and candy.
How do you determine what to request when they ask you what you would like donated?
I'm in California and I rarely see any companies listed on these posts for my area. I followed the advice of another member who suggested to walk around your house and google all the brands you see or google something specific and send emails to all those on the page and it's helped out a lot! Big thank yous to Sunny and Kim G and bgeek for your insight!
Does anyone have a suggestion on wording for monetary donations?
