Does anyone ever trade hotel stays to get variety for auctions? I live in San Diego and am having a heck of a time finding a hotel in New York City. Does anyone have a stay there they want to trade for something we have in San Diego? thx
our biggest baskets from classrooms or teachers were:
+have the K teacher come to your house and bring a bedtime snack then read a book
to you and you keep the book
+couple favorite teachers supervise a bowling party we received from the bowling alley
+make and decorate stepping stones (3 went for almost $200)
+baking basket of food then the kids tell you how to prepare their favorite dessert (written & placed in a binder) along side the original recipe from the mom
+rent out the gym and have couple teachers plan & supervise games at the party
While each class does a themed basket or project we haven't had our teachers do a basket. However, we do ask that they volunteer to offer "experiences" At our last auction two of our teachers offered a tea party, we had one teacher offer pizza and a movie, one offered a Wii tournament and snacks, our old principal who everybody loved offered a campout at school.
Could your basket not include some items along those same lines ? Coupons for a pizza lunch with a favorite teacher , or game tournament after school. or favorite books of their choosing, or school supplies or their favorite snack. The possibilities are endless.
You could call it "Treats from the teachers" or dependent upon the variety of items received "These are a few of our favorite things"
We do a basket auction along with our carnival every year. A few of our good baskets are; Car Care - Given to 11th grade as they are newly drivers and are interested in their car. John Deere - We are in the mid west so it is popular. We have done themed cooking baskets such as italian, baking, soup. This year we are doing a surprise basket. The pto is going to purchase items & put a black bag over it with only an estimated value on it. We are hoping that the people have fun with this. Another good one is game night. The basket is full of different games. Good Luck.
A basket that always does well for us is a Girl Scout cookie basket. Our auction is in August so by then people are looking for more since they are sold in Jan-March.
Am looking for ideas for a raffle basket that the teachers in our elementary school could put together for our event. This is the first time we are having the teachers donate/contribute in this manner and we want them to be excited. Each grade has its own theme basket (arts & crafts, cooking with kids, sports, summer/winter fun, technology/entertainment. Ideas? Anyone have suggestions for what's worked/NOT worked for them? Thanks
