We are doing a golf tournament fundraiser this year too! I have had NO LUCK getting golf related donations from companies. Just local courses (or within a reasonable distance). Here's what I've learned:
Callaway (owns Odyssey as well) only donatee to non-profits serving specifically at risk youth or under insured families.
Golfsmith only donates to 4 key programs in the Austin, TX area (at a corporate level; at store level we get discount gift cards for out goodie bags)
Titleist, Pinnacle & Footjoy are owned by Auschnet - they do prepicked local & national charities; no individual requests)
Dick's sporting goods (owns maxfli & topflite), gave us a tournament package ($50 gift cert and coupons for goodie bags). Appy 90 days before date of event.
Cobra Golf does not donate
Cleveland golf, bridgestone,Ping, Taylormade offered discounts
Mizuno, Adams Golf said No.
Crusader - I was the only person getting donations. I started in Nov. for our March event. I ended up with 24 donations.
I requested from Ben & Jerry, Otterbox, Penal Pens in November and never heard anything from them. I did a second request to Otterbox in Jan. and got a no from them early March.
Cabot Cheese responded real quick but it was for a wine tasting event we had and they donated a $75 cheese gift basket.
American Eagle responded within weeks with a $25 GC in the mail, no warning it was coming.
Sports Authority gave $20 GC to the Booster Club but not to our group.
Our silent auction was this weekend. We ended up with 24 auction items. We started the bidding off at 40% of the value. The Disney Hopper passes at $500 was one of our most valuable items. It ended up selling for $300. Our other $500 donation was a exterior power house wash and that went for $350.
Thank you again for this site it has been a god sent.
We had 12 raffle baskets and made $1065 selling raffle tickets. Not bad.
We sold 150 tickets to our Murder Mystery/Silent Auction/Raffle event and about 120 people showed up. About 30 of them were students so that means about 90 people had the means to bid on items. Our event made a total of $3700 after expenses.
I'm still waiting to hear on donation requests that I made to mountain resorts for summer passes to use as prizes at our Golf Tournament.
Has anyone had success getting Golf related donations beside their local golf courses?
Just an update, here is our yes list... we are working on teacher appreciation. We offer the teachers a free raffle ticket, they get to put it in for a prize of their choice. They love it!

We have requested from over 200 companies, so we are definitely getting no's, but many we have just requested so are waiting to hear back from.
Regarding Kohl's Care's, we put a request online, they then contacted us by email. We did have two Kohl's say they were coming, but only one came. So it doesn't seem like it's a guarantee just because you received the email.
jennik24, I am very interested on how you run your trivia night. I have been looking into running one and am hoping you can possibly let me know what you do in order for the trivia night to be successful. We can also discuss local companies that gave as I'm outside Indianapolis area. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
