I called the general manager of our local arena and they promised to get me tickets to an event. I'm not sure what event yet, maybe it's not through Ticketmaster though, I'm contacting them back next month.
I thought I'd relay my success rate on our recent school fundraising. I personally solicited about 95 organizations and companies. Many were suggestions from PTO.
I had about 47% (about 44) donations from national corps and local organizations. 13% came from the national organizations (like many listed on this website). The balance--and the overwhelming majority-- was from local restaurants, arts organizations, theaters, museums and businesses.
So when you look at your time spent on asking for donations, I repeatedly get the most success from local businesses and organizations instead of national.
I've had luck contacting the Offices of various malls. They will donate a mall gift certificate for up to $250. The typical donation is $50 but can be used at any store throughout that specific mall. So go shopping ladies!
Does anyone have a list of children's authors that will donate to their event? I have contacted the following through their emails already and gotten positive responses.
Rebecca Sklool
Jan Brett
Erin Fry
I have been trying a whole bunch of different authors blindly but if anyone has received books already and would be willing to list who gave, it would be greatly appreciated.
