This is a question concerning silent and live/verbal auction.
We have always only had silent auctions but this year plan on doing a live auction on a few items. I am wondering if anyone has ever had an item that you got silent auction bids on and then put it up for live auction. Does this work?
THANK YOU - I figured it would be easier to get the list of the stores in the local mall and write letters to corporate but was just wondering if anyone got lucky and the local store manager gave giftcards but that would be too perfect scenario..
Good Luck to everyone. Ours is on Saturday I am so excited..
That happened to me last year when I did that too, letters in hand. I found it easier to email, fax or contact via websites - got way better response then.
In a perfect world, wouldn't all the vendors be contacting us like Elite did?
Four of us put on our PTO Spirit Shirts and went to a strip mall with letters. Almost every one of the places didn't have a decision maker there - they needed to wait for the general manager, or owner, or marketing person. They all said they'd get back to us, and of course few have.
I also haven't received Canvas on Demand yet, or an email and my auction is 2 weeks out. Last year I did receive an email telling me to expect it... or was that the year before?
funny you all would be talking about the Elite resorts. We got resort vouchers last year and decided to not user them. Then I was just checking my email too see if I got a response form American Doll (impatiently waiting this answer)and i received an email from Elite asking if we were having a fundraising event this year, if we were to contact them so they could put some vouchers on hold for us. I didn't even email them this year...
Elite is NOT a time share deal, but they are very nice resorts that people need to purchase the food package and airfare as part of the offer. It is legit, but basically becomes a discount off a normal package.
We had four last year that brought in a total of over $2K. We had full disclosure of all of the fine print in our catalog, email communication, display, etc. We are planning to start bidding at $50 this year and cap the bidding so people do not over-spend for them. I am happy for whatever we get for them. Our attendees are educated adults, they can decide if the offer is a good fit for their families.
