We are not having any luck with this list. We spent a long time trying to get donations from the companies on the list and we keep getting no after no after no! Was really hoping to get these things and it was a waste of time! The only thing we got was Disney tickets.
I applied for Brooks Bros. I just got an email awhile after saying we would get an answer closer to the event. Haven't heard yet but we still have 2 months. We have received the Six Flags Magic Mountain by LA passes. They just email them right before the event if you get it.
To Firefly 1204...We are a Title One public elementary school, so we do not spend money on a fancy program, though I do know that some schools solicit ads to cover the costs of the program. What I do is prepare a list of auction items with a detailed list of what's included in each item. That list is only digital and is sent out to parents a few days before the auction. I instruct them to read through and note the item numbers they are most interested in. At the actual auction, I give a one-page, double-sided sheet with all item numbers and the name of the item, but NOT the detailed description. Veterans are ready for their list and are better able to focus on bidding, rather than reading each description the night of...
Does anyone out there have an example of a printed program that you have used to list the auction items? Just wondering how much info. on each item I should list.
This source has been great. I initially got some great hits and now I'm playing the waiting game on some I really wanted. Since everyone is so helpful and polite, I have a few questions.
Has anyone done Brooks Brothers? Its an online Bidding for Good application. I got a confirmation of my request a month ago and nothing since. I'm not sure how to follow up.
Also, has anyone had success with Six Flags? I believe I got that suggestion from here and tried that, but no reply yet.
Someone just said that they got from Chelsea Piers. I filled out their online thing, got confirmation of that and have heard nothing 7 weeks later now. Could you share how your success went?
Any other NYC $100-200 ideas would be well received, I'm sort of stalling. Our event is just over 5 weeks away. We have 5 serious items, we ideally need about 3 more.
I have a lot of feelers out there. It's just so awkward not knowing what will pan out.
Kristian...thx... Its our first live and silent auction and I just don't want it to be a flop. I have gotten some good items and will soon be piecing them together into baskets. Wish me luck.
