Hi Norma Jean,
It might be off topic, but I think it's a great topic! Your group might not have time for this, but sometimes its helpful to check the rsvps and call anyone who's a new parent to say you are really looking forward to seeing you at the event and if you have any questions, look for us (the volunteers), we will be wearing name tags and we are here to help you.
We also have this article about welcoming new parents that applies to many different scenarios, but it might have some good tips for your upcoming event.

Sorry everyone that this is off topic, but you all are the go-to people for answers.
Every year we have new parents attend our school auction. What do you all do to make them feel special, welcomed and introduce them to new parents. My brain is overwhelmed with auction stuff, all I can think of is to get 'New Parent' stickers if I can find them and put one on each new Parent. Any ideas? Thanks so much. Norma Gene
