Ney, Auction Chair in Fla and Roger,
Thank you so much for the info re how you organize your committees! Really great suggestions and I hoping we can implement some of these next year. The spreadsheet that everyone can log into sounds wonderful. Volunteers are busy and it's so much easier if you can act on a lead when you have the time rather than wait to weeks to find out if anyone else is working on the same thing! How you assign things to member is also great either geographically or by type of business. Auction chair in Fla, you all sound like such pro's!! We are doing great in terms of getting donations, but I know we can do better if we were functioning more efficiently and using the valuable time of volunteers more wisely.
I could not apply for the keurig machine earlier as their computer system had the date I applied for it last year and would not allow me to apply until that date passed this year. Oh well....you can't get 'em all! It was a great thing while it lasted and I thought there supply may dry up at some point. Seems like everyone was getting one.
One thing I find helpful is to send requests to new businesses and also those advertising in local publications. These are places looking to get their name out and they are often happy to participate.
Yes, I agree!! One of our biggest baskets also cost nothing!! We do front row seats to high school and middle school graduation. (4 People) Along with reserved parking. 2 separate baskets. We throw in a school sweatshirt and and a few other little items. Just have to ask the principals.
