Well, for some of us that have just started doing these functions, as mine is a first year event, I would like to say THANK YOU to ALL that shared without complaints of places that can be requested from so that our 1st tricky tray will be a success. I personally had NO CLUE who, where, or what to request or how to go about it. Unfortunately not everyone on here has the "12 years of experience" as others do. I did not necessarily request many out of state donations, but it did give me ideas of where to go in MY state, and to see what types of businesses to ask from. As for SOME locations, they are open to all that choose to go there, ex: Disney..... it's not just for Florida residents.
To anon~ if you go back two years on this site and it says post company names, address and what you received. it does not say give ideas, letters etc.! If that s what u r looking for you will need to seek another site.
NO I am not feeling ripped off or anything like that and I was given the name of this website by someone who used it . I can see useful things on here like how to organize, make a letter, get your tax ID number etc. But, come on --- I live in Il and does anyone have any ideas ,,, really?! Tickets for snowboarding in Michigan when you live in Penn , shows in NY when you live in Missouri that is plain stingy and not helping anyone but hurting those that live in those states. Ya people will bid on it but in reality they will sit in an envelope and go to waste so why bother. Great you are helping your school but don't be goofs and instead of being lazy and just posting names and sites on here, give ideas of how to make your letters better, raffle ideas etc and use your brains and resources to get compaines. It just kills me to see someone say I live in wherever and does anyone have places to send to,,, pick up a phone book or a tourist guide geez .
To Anon- apparently you also use this site or you wouldn't be on here.
Ofcourse it's great to get things around your state and right outside, however, items such as Disney World tickets are a hot item. I'm sorry if you are losing your items but I do however find it selfish of you to hog items for yourself instead of sharing with other schools or organizations that we are all just trying to do good for our children. I want my child's school to be all that it can be and this fundraiser is an amazing way to raise money for the school. I'm sorry if you are upset but that is not going to stop me from bettering my child's school because you feel jipped. I hope that it doesn't deter anyone else from this site from posting either.
While you may think this web site is useful in listing all of the places you have received and can get donations from , it is not. I have been doing the donation thing for 12 years and because of sites like this I have lost alot of yearly sponsors due to the overwhelming flood of requests they are now getting. And to those of you sending out to places outside of your state, be careful and not just stingy. It costs money to travel to out of state places to get one night free or 2 free lessons etc.... You may want to stick to your own state and just a few miles out of state. Not MO looking for freebies in NY etc,,,, This should be a helpful idea/hint website and let your mind, fingers etc do the rest ---remember stingy/greedy gets you nothing , hard work gets you the most
Many donations just show up- so don't get discouraged. I have also noticed that donations typically show up right before the actual event. Most of my donations have arrived just a couple of weeks before the event. On rare occasions, I receive confirmation of a donation. Most just send the donation.
FYI, author Laura Numeroff is now donating only to children that are seriously ill.
