Mornin' ... look out Luv - my hubby is invading Des Moines today. He will have all 4 corners of Des Moines covered before he leaves Tuesday evening. So for safety if you see some crazy male talking, texting and trying to use an electronic navigation device all at once while driving a rental quickly turn the other direction.

I haven't picked up Eat, Pray, Love either just because of the talk on Oprah. I'm more of the action, suspense type. I'm dashing to the library this afternoon to pick up the copy of the new James Patterson novel they are holding for me.
d, I can just envision using those phrases many times in my life! I haven't used my Spanish since college, but I'm thinking I need to take a class and refresh my skills because my daughter will be taking it next year and I know she will teach it to her brother and then they will plot behind my back in a foreign language. I do know what "loco" means so they can't use that one.
Our comfort food this weekend was Shepherd's Pie. I had never made one, but saw Rachel Ray do it on 30 Minute Meals. I got her recipe but cut it in half and made some modifications based on what I know my family likes and doesn't like. Everyone enjoyed it, so it is added to our file of regularly occurring recipes. Also did BBQ beef in the crockpot. The house smelled so good.
CC--I'd seen that before and you're right it is a hoot. Wish I'd thought of it. Silver you are kind. I cannot wait to hear what the other ladies think about "how deep" the book is etcetera. I'll just smile and nod.
I'm learning Spanish. So far I know how to say "how are you" and "put the pencil on your head". Yeah...I dunno...maybe it's important to have that particular set of words in the Spanish culture. But the lessons are free. I think next week we are learning "Touch the fireplace"....
Woo hoo--stand back all you Spanish lovers--I'm about to hit the streets .
Hi Ya'all ... I'm here ... just learking lately becuase I have been swamped. Took on another venture for the 'volunteer' portion of my life in addition to all other items in that basket. I am very excited about the opportunity but in a holding until they get back to me with some crital information for the task.
Yup, still reading books and passed up Eat, Pray, Love based on her multiple times on Oprah. IMHO it's not my type of book becasue my Mom told me 'if you can't say nothing nice don't say it' therefore I am stopping the discussion on her and her book. Similar situation with Into the Wild. Very scattered book for me. To much 'this coulda happened' or 'this may have happened' and then the author's jaunt through his life expiences didn't seem to fit into the book for me as much as it did for him. Typically I try to read the book before seeing the movie becasue the rule of thumb is that the book is better than the movie but this could be the exception to the rule. I tried to start another book a couple of weeks ago but got distracted during the 1st chapter so thought that was a bad sign so stopped reading and will try to pick it up again when life calms down.
With all the cold weather we have been eating a lot of Italian with of course warm garlic breadsticks. Nothing says warmth like the carbs you can pack on with baked Italian foods.
Hope everyone is getting a bit of a thaw out in the next couple of days ... of course more cold will be on the way but with Feb around the corner so is warmer weather.

Yum...crock pot today has turkey chili in it. BIG dilemma for the kids and hubby to decide - cornbread or biscuits to go with. And salad to kind of be healthy!
And...cinnamon peach mini cheesecakes for dessert.
Love the weekends that are slow and relaxing.........
