100 today and the AC works great here!! House down the street is without and my daughter went down to invite their son over to our house while mom and dad were at work. He thanked me so many times. Mom was a little upset, oh well.

PTOCES- i'm glad he walked off before he needed to be carried off. I have never understood why the boys need to practice in that heat WITH 10x the amount of clothing they normally wear. now if the coach was also in full gear I would think different but until that happens, I'm happy your son realized that was just not for him before the heat really got to him! (I have a brother that never got the hint and several cousins that played football.) 100 degrees with 100% humidity is not the time to teach boys to play a sport played in 30 degree weather with snow!!!

I do see your point about quitting but still question practicing in such heat.

During a visit to a mental asylum, a visitor asked the director what test they used to help them decide whether or not a patient should be institutionalized.
"Well," said the director, "We fill up a bathtub. then we offer a teaspoon, a cup, and a bucket to the patient and ask him or her to empty the bathtub."
"Oh, I understand," said the visitor. "A normal person would use the bucket because it's bigger than the teaspoon or the cup."
"No," siad the director, "A normal person would pull the plug. Will you be checking in the this morning or this afternoon?"

I got this email tonight and thought we could all use a good laugh...

This is hilarious - no wonder some people were offended!) This is the
message that the Pacific Palisades High School (California) staff voted
unanimously to record on their school telephone answering machine.
This is the actual answering machine message for the school. This came
about because they implemented a policy requiring students and parents to be
responsible for their children's absences and missing homework. The school and
teachers are being sued by parents who want their children's failing grades
changed to passing grades - even thoug h those children were absent 15-30
times during the semester and did not complete enough schoolwork to pass
their classes.

The outgoing message: "Hello! You have reached the automated answering
service of your school. In order to assist you in connecting to the
right staff member, please listen to all the options before making a selection:

* To lie about why your child is absent - Press 1
* To make excuses for why your child did not do his work- Press 2
* To complain about what we do - Press 3
* To swear at staff members - Press 4
* To ask why you didn't get information that was already enclosed in your
newsletter and several flyers mailed to you - Press 5
* If you want us to raise your child - Press 6
* If yo u want to reach out and touch, slap or hit someone - Press 7
* To request another teacher, for the third time this year - Press 8
* To complain about bus transportation - Press 9
* To! complain about school lunches - Press 0
* If you realize this is the real world and your child must be accountable
and responsible for his/her own behavior, class work, homework and that
it's not the teachers' fault for your child's lack of effort:
Hang up and have a nice day!

If you can read this - thank a teacher!
If you are reading it in English - thank a veteran!

Have a great day...

It's so hot here that my son quit football because it is horribly hot in all those pads and solid black. It was 99 at 7:00p on Thursday. He quit. Walked off the field and told me that he would pay me $100.00 to never walk on the field again. I told him just $50.00 ( the amount I am out due to registration ). Is that wrong of me to ask him to pay me back? He's only 7, do we really think he understands that it is the principle and not the money thing? I don't care about the money, but I hate that he quit something that he started.
