'SISTERS'

A young wife sat on a sofa on a hot humid day, drinking iced tea and visiting with her Mother. As they talked about life, about marriage, about
the responsibilities of life and the obligations of adulthood, the mother clinked the ice cubes in her glass thoughtfully and turned a clear, sober glance upon her daughter."Don't forget your Sisters," she advised, swirling the tea leaves to the bottom of her glass. "They'll be more important as you get older. No matter how much you love your husband, no matter how much
you love the children you may have, you are still going to need Sisters. Remember to go places with them now and then; do things with them."Remember that 'Sisters' means ALL the women... your girlfriends, your daughters, and
all your other women relatives too."You'll need other women. Women always do."
'What a funny piece of advice!' the young woman thought. 'Haven't I just gotten married? Haven't I just joined the couple-world? I'm now a married
woman, for goodness sake! A grownup! Surely my husband and the family we may start will be all I need to make my life worthwhile!' But she listened to her Mother. She kept contact with her
Sisters and made more women friends each year. As the years tumbled by, one after another, she gradually came to understand that her Mom really knew what she was talking about. As time and nature work their changes and their mysteries upon a woman, Sisters are the mainstays of her life. After more than 50 years of living in this world, here is what I've learned: THIS SAYS IT ALL: Time passes. Life happens. Distance separates. Children grow up. Jobs come and go.
Love waxes and wanes. Men don't always do what they're supposed to do. Hearts break. Parents die. Colleagues forget favors. Careers end.
BUT.........
Sisters are there, no matter how much time and how many miles are between you.
A girl friend is never farther away than needing her can reach. When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you have to walk it by
yourself, the women in your life will be on the valley's rim, cheering you on, praying for you, pulling for you, intervening on your behalf,
and waiting with open arms at the valley's end. Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk beside you. Or come in and carry you out.
Girlfriends, daughters, granddaughters, daughters-in-law, sisters, sisters-in-law, Mothers, Grandmothers, aunties, nieces, cousins, and extended family, all bless our life! The world wouldn't be the same without women, and neither would I. When we began this adventure called womanhood, we had no idea of the incredible joys or sorrows that lay ahead.Nor did we know how much we would need each other. Every day, we need each other still.

In the feel good about yourself department...my sister is visiting with her 3 boys (we produced 7 boys in the span of 5 years) so the house is buzzing.
My #3 comes up to Auntie and says "Aunt Lisa...my mom is growing something".
"Really Benjamin...what is she growing"
Benjamin replies "She's growing a mustache"...

AHHHHHH--fast forward 2 hours to my sister waxing my entire face ... outta the mouths of babe....

For those of you that have ever moved with children.....Did your child, while packing(bugging you while you were packing) say:
1. I wondered where that went?
2. I haven't seen that in years?
3. Where did we get all this stuff?
4. Do we have to move it all? I can just get new toys for Christmas.
5. Can't I just take a nap?
6. What does this go to?
7. I really don't need my own room, can we just stay here?
8. Why can't we just pay someone to do this for us?
9. Can we just leave it in boxes for a while when we get there to see what we really need?
The funny part is, we are just moving down the street.

Also, my husband works nights and the kids and I are trying to pack to move in this weekend, so he woke up (thanks to my 3 year old) and yelled for me to ask me where the tv, fan, and dresser went that were all there when he went to sleep this morning. I guess it would freak me out too if I woke up and all my stuff was missing! That'll teach him to sleep when work needs to be done.

The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris

OOPS that resignation letter is a semi-urban legend. Read all about it at www.snopes.com

still funny, just maybe not authentic like lots of other stuff in life.

Omigosh, I about sucked my iced tea up my nose laughing at the airline story! I would have appreciated such a witty flight attendant the last time we traveled. Just about every one we encountered was a big crab! I know it's got to be a tough job, but goodness!

Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat.

CC- isn't it just as hot in good ol' Alabama? It's awful here. But, it's the TN, what more should I expect? Glad to hear that you made it thru Nashville, you should really come back and shop at Opry Mills Mall...oh my, what a mall. Also, in the winter, there is show called ICE where these people from China come over and make all these ice sculptures...very nice, but cold. It's like 22 or colder in there. They give these parkas for you to wear. It's a good field trip for kids.
