My kids have no TV in room, havent seen any PG-13 movies, Harry Potter, LoR (too scary) (the older teens have), dont watch Nick (Dexters', CatDog, Fairy godparents, etc) and MTV crap, have never seen SouthPark anything...
When we go to the park, pool, mall, public place if I cant reachout and touch them thier too far away...
Shawn, that is so our house! My kids have come back from friends' houses and said "They have a TV/DVD/Video game player in their room" I tell them it's not going to happen here. We watch TV together so I know what their watching and if they don't like the choice that's why books were invented. Nickolodeon-I have to approve and that doesn't happen often, absolutely no Cartoon Network or MTV. My son never saw a Power Rangers show, the commercials alone got him wound enough. And you know what? They are straight A students, well-liked by peers and adults, talented, compassionate, and just all-round great kids. So they have they really missed out on anything-I think not!
As for the safety issue, maybe I do keep a tight watch of my kids, but if I didn't and something happened, I would never forgive myself. Too many sickos in the world and just plain careless people.
Okay enough ranting!
Liked that joke! When my husband tries to "help" me I have a specific look I give him. Kind of like the "mommy look" but with a more deadly edge to it.
Thanks for the late night edit Shawn! I went to bed feeling so sad and blue. Hey, I understand the dilema - 4x4, Hemi, 4x4, Hemi.... You can just do what my husband did and buy an SRT8 Jeep - it has both! It runs my Charger off the road and kicks my butt on the 1/4 mile.
Only two more rooms to unpack - the master bedroom and my office. Sheesh. Why did I save the worst for last? I know why. Once I unpack my office then I have no more excuses for making my sister-in-law manage all of the business' books. Back to work for me.....

Shawn - you should see my tractor. I used to work on a farm and I can change the oil in every John Deere tractor and grease every fitting on them. I can also bushog, plant, disc, combine, and get stuck in the pond on a rainy day in my new 4x4 truck...that was fun. Quick story - my boss said we didn't have to work, but thought it would be fun to see how deep the pond was with my brand new truck. It had been raining for days. He told me that wherever it got stuck I had to climb out and attach the wench to it. Oh, what a fun day. I made it to the middle B4 I was stuck. Took longer to pull it out of the mud than it did for me to get it stuck! I miss my 4x4 candy apple chevy........the good ol' days.
